Books and Butterflies is at 11 a.m. every
Wednesday-Friday now through Thursday,
Dec. 31. Join online for special story time
readings with local guests. All readings will
be posted on the Butterfly House Facebook

A Mermaid Pool Party is from 5:30-7
p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29 at The Lodge
Indoor Pool, 1050 Des Peres Road in Des
Peres. Features a princess sing-a-long,
mermaid photoshoot, diving for treasure
and making a shell necklace. Participants
may bring personal mermaid tails for
party; additional guards will be scheduled.
Bring a towel, goggles and mermaid tail.
Face coverings required when not in the
water. No equipment or supplies will be
shared. Registration deadline is Tuesday,
Jan. 19. Cost is $26 for members and
residents; $30 for all others. Registration
includes one youth participant and

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS
Registration is currently open for
Sam’s Club members to schedule virtual
visits with Santa. Each participant gets
a free photo and video from their session.
Free event; Sam’s Club members
only. Sessions are first come first served
and are expected to fill up quickly. Meetings
will be done through Zoom; a Sam’s
Club Photo Account is required to sign

Individuals can drop-off letters to
Santa until Friday, Dec. 18 at the Manchester
Parks Department. Manchester’s
elves will make sure Santa sees the letters
and writes back. Send letters and a selfaddressed,
stamped envelope to Santa

Winter Jewels is open from 10 a.m.-4
p.m. through Thursday, Dec. 31 at The
Butterfly House, 15193 Olive Blvd. in
Chesterfield. The Butterfly House will
transform into an enchanted land full of
knights, dragons, gnomes and, of course,
jewel-toned butterflies. Exhibit included

The Magic House’s Holiday Magic
event runs through Thursday, Dec. 31
at 516 S. Kirkwood Road in Kirkwood.
Families will enjoy expanded hours plus
festive decorations, added outdoor experiences,
and the opportunity to visit with
Santa in his sleigh. Event also includes
a life-size Gingerbread Village, a Snowball
Carnival, and Magical Nights light
display and story time with Mrs. Claus.
Magical Nights will take place from 5-8
p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday
evenings in December. Reservations
are required for all visits; each visit with
Santa reservation also includes admission

The Holiday Express Miniature Train
runs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays
and Sundays through Friday, Jan. 1 at the
National Museum of Transportation, 2933
Barrett Station Road in Kirkwood. Take a
ride on the C.P. Huntington Miniature Train,
fit for all ages. Cost is $5 per person (in
addition to museum admission). Weather

The Macy’s/Famous Barr Holiday
Train Exhibit will be on display from 9

Santa’s Magical Kingdom runs
nightly from 5:30-10:30 p.m., Sunday-
Thursday; and 5:30-11 p.m. on Fridays
and Saturdays; including all holidays,
through Sunday, Jan. 10 at Yogi Bear’s
Jellystone Park, 5300 Fox Creek Road
in Pacific. The drive-through holiday
light display features animated scenes,
special effects and millions of lights.
Participants can view Santa safely from
their vehicle, drop off letters, enjoy train
and wagon rides, and visit Kringle’s
General Store. Admission is $25 per
vehicle. Admission for wagon and train
rides is $14 per person. Cash only. For

The 6th annual Manchester Snowman
Building Contest runs through Sunday, Feb.
28. Manchester businesses and residents
can build a custom snowman and enter it to
win prizes. Participants should email snowman
photos along with their name, address,
phone and the date the snowman was built

The Christmas Experience: A Drive
Through Light, Joy & Hope is from
6:30-9:30 p.m. from Dec. 18-20 at Pathfinder
Church, 15800 Manchester Road
in Ellisville. A drive-through Christmas
experience featuring lights synchronized
to music, Christmas-themes inflatables,
carolers, a live expression of the nativity
and more. The event is free and open to the
public.

opportunity is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday,
Dec. 19 at St. John United Church
of Christ, Manchester, 332 Old Sulphur

Christmas Concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday,
Dec. 20. The concert will premiere both on
Facebook and at livingwordumc.org.

A virtual Christmas Candlelight
Concert by the Bach Society is at 7 p.m.
on Wednesday, Dec. 23. Hailed as one
of the top 20 live Christmas events in
North America by BBC Music Magazine,
the event is an immersive virtual
concert with the opportunity for community
involvement. Admission is $15
per device. Tickets are available with

New Year’s Eve at Noon is from 11
a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31 at The
Lodge Indoor Pool, 1050 Des Peres Road
in Des Peres. Guests will participate in
traditional New Year’s Eve festivities
including a countdown to noon with a
beach ball drop. Enjoy swimming in the
wave pool, the indoor slide, music, dancing
and a New Year’s Eve-themed backdrop
for photos. Youth guests receive a
beach ball. Preregistration is required by
Dec. 27. Register early, event sells out.
Event is free for The Lodge members; $8
for residents; $12 for non-residents. All
ages welcome. COVID-19 guidelines will
be followed including social distancing
