Liz and Doug Cox have both<br />

been involved with Rowley<br />

Resource Centre since its establishment<br />

more than 25 years ago.<br />

They both ensure the centre’s<br />

flower and vegetable gardens are<br />

well maintained, and they are<br />

key members of the veggie co-op.<br />

Liz also keeps the centre clean<br />

and tidy and meets and greets<br />

community members who visit.<br />

Aroha Swan has been the<br />

chairwoman of the Rowley<br />

Resource Centre for more than<br />

three years and has been part<br />

of the vege co-op team for two<br />

years.<br />

She supports many groups at<br />

the centre, including picking up<br />

and dropping off those who attend<br />

the seniors’ group. She also<br />

ensures the centre is clean and<br />

tidy. Aroha is also a board member<br />

for Kereru Sports & Cultural<br />

Club, and she assists with local<br />

community events.<br />

Jason Chee<br />

Jason Chee was a 24/7 youth<br />

worker at Hillmorton High<br />

School for seven years, mentoring,<br />

coaching sport, and<br />

participating in adventure-based<br />

outdoor learning with year nine<br />

to 13 students for 10 hours a<br />

week. He also ran a youth group,<br />

organised touch rugby teams,<br />

and community camps to Mt<br />

Hutt.<br />

For a number of years, Jason<br />

has been on the organising<br />

committee for Hoon Hay Fiesta,<br />

Hoon Hay Hoops, and Lalaga<br />

Night Market, and he organises<br />

security volunteers for the fiesta<br />

and Pacific Series.<br />

Jason’s involvement with Suburbs<br />

Rugby Football Club spans<br />

10 years in various roles as player,<br />

junior team coach, committee<br />

member, and currently club<br />

captain.<br />

Bailey Johnston<br />

Bailey Johnston has been a<br />

youth group leader at South West<br />

Baptist Church for 18 months,<br />

and Sunday school leader for two<br />

years.<br />

Bailey also mentors girls at<br />

Christchurch South Intermediate<br />

alongside the youth worker.<br />

Bailey was a volunteer in<br />

the SHARP after-school and<br />

holiday programmes for two<br />

years.<br />

While studying full-time for<br />

a university degree, Bailey still<br />

finds time to volunteer at Sunday<br />

school, youth group and the local<br />

school community.<br />

Hannah Poole<br />

Hannah Poole has been a<br />

leader at South West Baptist<br />

Church Sunday School for<br />

eight years, youth group for 18<br />

months, and Girls’ Brigade for<br />

six years.<br />

She was also a leader at<br />

SHARP after-school and holiday<br />

programmes for six months, producing<br />

outstanding programmes<br />

and props.<br />

Though now employed fulltime,<br />

Hannah still volunteers at<br />

youth group, Girls’ Brigade, and<br />

Sunday school.<br />
