Kaikoura will celebrate thesummer in<br />

style on Saturday.<br />

Summer Musiconthe Lawn is backat<br />

WithKiwis travelling to Kaikoura from<br />

all over thecountry, Fyffe House manager<br />

Ann McCaw says the event willbethe<br />

perfect opportunity to showcase local<br />

talent.<br />

of mountainstosea’’.<br />

The event wasfirst held nearly 20 years<br />

ago as Jazz on theLawn without­of­town<br />

musicians,but in recent years it has<br />

featured local artistsand has never<br />

lookedback, she says.<br />

MainPower Community Fund close<br />

tomorrow (Friday).<br />

Lester says the community fund puts<br />

the power in the hands of <strong>North</strong><br />

Cantabrians to decide where funding is<br />

allocated.<br />

‘‘It is afantastic opportunity for<br />

community members to nominate the<br />

groups they think are having apositive<br />

impact on the community, and<br />

potentially get them amuch­needed<br />

funding boost.’’<br />

Schools and community groups are<br />

also encouraged to nominate<br />

‘‘Each yearwewelcomeback someof<br />

oursuperb regular musicians along with<br />

some new ones.<br />

‘‘Thesupportive environmentcreated<br />

by the experienced performershas made<br />

it agreat place for newcomers,many of<br />

whom have never played outdoorsatan<br />

event likethis.’’<br />

Christchurch, has supported the concert<br />

forthe pastdecade,supplying asound<br />

systemwhich he mixes to perfection.<br />

allocated to groups, with $10,000 being<br />

earmarked for school projects.<br />

Previous recipients have included<br />

groups that benefit the region’s youth,<br />

local environmental projects and<br />

events.<br />

Once nominations have closed, a<br />

group of finalists will be announced,<br />

with MainPower customers in <strong>North</strong><br />

<strong>Canterbury</strong> invited to vote to decide<br />

which groups and schools will be<br />

allocated funding.<br />
