Exhibition 2019
Water is one of the most critical
issues facing the world today,
with developing and emerging
economies facing some of the biggest water
challenges and representing some of the
biggest opportunities to get our water future
right. In the Asia Pacific region, home to
two-thirds of the world’s poor, water quality
is at a critical stage, as growing volumes
of untreated wastewater from households,
cities, agriculture and industry continue to
be released into the natural environment.
The International Water Association (IWA)
will host its biannual leading water event,
the IWA Water and Development Congress
& Exhibition in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from
1 to 5 of December 2019, bringing together
water science and research with the public
and private sectors, financial institutions,
policy makers and civil society, to drive water
cooperation and sustainable solutions for
emerging economies.
The IWA Water and Development Congress
& Exhibition 2019 provides a platform
for national, regional and international
cooperation on water. It is also a unique
hub for water and sanitation professionals
to develop the necessary capacities,
knowledge and, fundamentally, connections
across disciplines to implement available
solutions and best practices at scale, and
take innovations from research to the
marketplace.
The IWA Water and Development Congress
& Exhibition is an agenda-setting meeting
that addresses the challenges and
solutions needed to achieve the Sustainable
Development Goals. The meeting will feature:

within and beyond the water sector provide

needs to address;

connecting the right people with the

international companies and institutes.
