It is clear how far Panasonic has
gone from its very first two products,
an attachment plug and a two-way
socket. This alone says a lot for a
brand that has been in existence
since 1918. Now over a century
old, the company is still constantly
evolving and improving to help
realize its slogan, “A Better Life, A
Better World.”
Panasonic Leadership
Over the last five decades,
Panasonic Philippines has been led
by many outstanding country heads
and group managers, and now
54 years later, the leadership has
fallen on the shoulders of Genaro
Castro or most fondly referred to as
Pari. Having come from a family of
Electrical Engineers, Pari had been
set on taking up engineering since
he was in grade school. He really
wanted to become an Electrical
Engineer at first. But come high
school, he discovered the many
other fields of engineering and
decided that he would pursue
either Computer Engineering or
Electronics and Communication
Engineering instead.
Upon the suggestion of his dad,
he went with the latter and enrolled
at Mapúa University (then Mapúa
Institute of Technology). Pari
described himself as your typical
college student who commutes
for two hours from Taytay, Rizal to
Intramuros and has to study on the
bus on the way to school or home.
He eventually got his degree in
1999, and in that same year, he took
and passed the board exams.
