Race proceeds handed over<br />
Longbeach School and Hinds<br />
and Districts Charitable Trust<br />
are each $13,000 better off,<br />
thanks to proceeds from the<br />
Longbeach Coastal Challenge.<br />
The cheques were handed over<br />
at aceremony at Willowby Hall<br />
on Friday, with principal Neil<br />
Simons saying the money was<br />
once again appreciated by the<br />
school and would be well spent.<br />
In previous years proceeds<br />
from the race had helped with<br />
audiovisual equipment for the<br />
school hall, ahitting wall,<br />
upgrades to computer tablets<br />
and with the cost of teacher<br />
aides, he said.<br />
The coastal challenge is run by<br />
volunteers from the Hinds and<br />
District Lions Club and<br />
Longbeach School and is amajor<br />
fundraiser.<br />
Alot of work goes into<br />
organising the event, which is<br />
held on three properties and<br />
takes in the scenic Longbeach<br />
coastline.<br />
Those taking part have options<br />
to bike, run or walk over avariety<br />
of distances.<br />
Ruralco is the naming sponsor<br />
and has supported the event<br />
since it first started.<br />
Over $300,000 has been raised<br />
over the past 14 years.<br />
Planning is already under way<br />
for race <strong>15</strong>, which is set for<br />
November 28.<br />
