Regular Council Minutes – June 13, 2011 Page 8 The presenters advised of the 2010 renewal of the following Prince George Airport Authority Board Members: Ron Epp, City of Prince George Tom Newell, Government of Canada Andy Clough, Government of Canada Al Leier, Prince George Airport Authority The presenters provided an overview of passenger activity, noting that although it was slightly lower than expected, there was a 3.8% increase in passengers through the Prince George airport in 2010. They spoke of the 2010 accomplishments and provided an overview of the capital finances, which showed a strong performance. This was followed by a review of the statement of operations, and it was noted that the revenue increase was a direct result of fire tanker traffic and airport improvement fee increases. The presenters responded to questions from Council. E2. Ranjit Gill & Sherry Powney, regarding Portraits of Honour Mural Project & Darren Fitzpatrick Bravery Park Project Ranjit Gill and Sherry Powney were in attendance and came to Centre Table. Ms. Gill advised that they were part of a small support group in attendance to represent Prince George military families and injured troops. They explained that the “Portraits of Honour” tour is coming through Prince George on July 13, 2011, and requested that Council offer its support by renaming a park in the Hart Highway area, preferably Glenview Park, as the Darren Fitzpatrick Bravery Park in conjunction with the tour. The presenters advised that this park would be only the second bravery park in the country, and dedicating the park in Darren Fitzpatrick’s name at the same time as the tour goes through our community, would bring more awareness to the event and what they are attempting to accomplish. They explained that the “Portraits of Honour” tour is to honour all those who have passed away in service, and for what the troops go through every day. Moved by Councillor Bassermann, seconded by Councillor Skakun, that the matter of Bravery Park BE REFERRED to Administration for quick consideration of Council. Report dated June 6, 2011, from Wendy Nordin, Manager of Policy Initiatives, regarding Economic Development Service Review Moved by Councillor Green, seconded by Councillor Frizzell, that the report regarding Economic Development Service Review, BE RECEIVED. Carried Unanimously Moved by Councillor Stolz, seconded by Councillor Skakun, that: 1. the Economic Development Service Review Draft Terms of Reference attached to the report, BE APPROVED; and 2. that PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP be selected to conduct the Economic Development Service Review. Carried Unanimously G2.
