Under the Shades

UNDER THE SHADES.
In a city called Smalltown, there lived a little girl that was always
alone, because her parents were always working to give her the best.
One day her mother named Ally received a call from the school, which
was to inform her that her daughter named Scarlet was having unusual
behaviors, Ally upon hearing this began to laugh and told to the
principal that it was impossible, Scarlet was The nicest and prettiest girl
they could have at the school, the principal contradicted her by
explaining the situation in which her daughter was involved, Scarlet had
pushed another girl with enough force to cause her serious damage that
required medical intervention. The mother got shocked when hearing
this because she knew that her daughter was not like that and that
there should be something behind.
When night came, Scarlet’s parents talked about what happened and
they did not believe that their daughter could have done damage to
another girl, and they decided to go talk with Scarlet to get an
explanation on what happened, but when they got to her room they
found something that left them frozen, Scarlet´s dolls had their heads
torn apart and their bodies with many pins, she had removed her hair
with scissors, her arms and legs were scratched, and her gaze was not
that of that sweet girl and innocent that they knew. They tried to talk
with her, but it was impossible since they were taken from her room by
her with an inexplicable force, but there was so much love that they
were blinded to see what was that it had it do with adolescence, and
They went to sleep with the hope that the anger would have passed in
the next day.
The next morning:
Her parents were surprised to see that Scarlet never came down from
her room, so they decided to go see her when they got to her room,
they found that she had run away the night before. Her father named
Johnson realized that the window was open, with a blanket tied to her
bed used as a rope to get down, desperate her parents decided to call
the police and report that their daughter was missing.
Meanwhile Scarlet went aimlessly to the forest of Hunt in search of
answers, days before, Scarlet had experienced unusual changes
including aggressiveness against Juliet, she experienced visions with
unknown people and others that were dead, so she decided to go and
search these people to get answers, she looks for the person who
frequently as part of her visions, to find out who he was and why he

appeared so much in her visions, and what it has to do with her attitude
against Juliet, although it was an inner impulse pushed her to react in
this way since she did not know anything about Juliet, she felt guilty for
what happened because she did not understand her great hatred for
Juliet.
After two days she was walking deeper and deeper into the forest she
heard voices calling her and she decided to follow these voices that led
her to an old and apparently, abandoned house in the middle of the
forest, when she got to the door, she knocked loudly but the door
opened by itself, and she saw a shadow of a person on the stairs. In a
great hurry, scarlet’s curiosity made her go after that shadow reaching
the second floor of the house she found many paintings from death's
people of his visions, with candles, amulets, witchcraft, dolls, and
demon’s images.
Scarlet quickly looked for a place to hide from the person to avoid
problems, she heard that this person went upstairs and called her
saying, "you have finally reached me" "I have waited so long for this
moment" "do not be afraid I will not hurt you "I have the key for you to
find the answers you are looking for ".
When she saw that he knew where she was, hidden under the bed, she
decided to get out and grabbed a knife she found under the bed to fight
if necessary; once she got out under the bed, she asked how he knew
her name and how he knew that she was looking for answers, and the
person replied: my power is from a vision like you, and I always knew
that this day would come and my visions were not wrong.
If you know who I am, tell me what I'm doing here and tell me the
answers I need, but the man responded by saying "I don't have the
answers you need, but if I can give you clues to solve the mystery of
that book that you have in your hands, I have tried to decipher it for
more than 20 years but it has never been revealed as easily as it has
with you, that book according to legend is only shown before the chosen
one, writing his steps in the present to discover an unknown past but
important for the future. Did Scarlet ask, how to write my present? the
man replied: You are the chosen one, you must discover it! When
Scarlet kept asking a strong breeze, he disappeared through the
window, and just when she looked at the man again, but Scarlet was left
with more questions than answers and decided to look for them, going
deeper into the forest in search of an answer to the riddles that little by
little came out from the book.

When leaving the house, she hears a noise on the first floor of the house
and decided to go down to see what was happening, and on the wall,
she found some pieces that seem to form a path; the girl curiously took
all the pieces and took them to the room to form that puzzle, Scarlet at
the time of organizing the pieces realized that 3 pieces were missing to
finish and find the first answer that she needed to know why she was
the "chosen one" and what was her origin and her purpose. The puzzle
had a beginning where it showed a way to follow until the end, which
hid a great secret, the girl had to find the three pieces to be able to
complete the beginning of an end.
The parents sat questioning if either of them told Scarlet that she was
adopted, and they wondered if Scarlet had ever found the box that was
in the closet where the adoption certificate was, but Ally knew that that
box was locked, and that Scarlet had never seen it. At that moment the
police arrived to start the investigation about Scarlet's escape from
home, the parents commented to the police that maybe Scarlet run
away because she had realized that she was adopted, they had
promised to the biological parents that they would never mention it;
while they were pondering the possible reasons of the space, an
unexpected call reached, it was the school principal, letting ally and
Jhonson know that Juliet had left the hospital safe and sound but she
would be in recovery for a while in her house. At that moment, the
principal asked about Scarlet, but her mother had no clue where she
was and hung up the call almost when Johnson asked if it was her
daughter.
Meanwhile, at Juliet's house, her parents had organized a welcome party
for their daughter who had left the Hospital, and everything seemed
joyful and laughter. At the end of the party, Juliet's parents decided to
ask why she had had that confrontation with Scarlet, which almost took
her life, but Juliet just showed a smile on her face and did not say more.
Then, at midnight, Juliet's parents went up to her room to find out how
her injuries continued or if she needed something, but they were
incredibly surprised, Juliet had many drawings of dismembered girls, her
dolls did not have eyes and on all the pages it was a single name,
"Scarlet". When her parents saw this, they thought that it was a
moment of resentment on Juliet's part, but they did not know that
behind that there was a well-elaborated plan. Her parents left the room
and Juliet woke up and began to get rid of all the bandages on her,
uncovering a deception that she had created to have more time and
spend at home to execute her revenge against Scarlet.

During Juliet’s plans for her revenge on Scarlet, Scarlet was still missing
the three pieces of the puzzle, she arrived at the lake which has a small
island where an old boat was abandoned. She had to cross the lake to
be able to find that boat and look for the missing pieces, but it was
getting dark, and it would be a problem to continue, she thought that
everything was lost. The strong air returns and the mysterious man
arrives to give her important information on how to solve the puzzle.
Scarlet and the man come up to create a plan to build a small boat to
move them across the lake. Scarlet went up to the boat and began to
row, but the water was moving and in the middle of the night suddenly
a shadow appears in the moonlight from the water and Scarlet throw
herself into the water and heard a voice that said, “you stole my
destiny, in the past, I could not get you out of my way, so I will in this
time.
The next day:
Scarlet woke up on the edge of the lake scared of what had happened
the night before, but she had no explanation about what or who was
trying to kill her, although the day was normal and peaceful. Looking
around, she noticed that the boat was at the foot of the mountain which
she had to climb for three days (based on what the book said) to find all
the missing pieces to complete the puzzle.
The first day began and the still unknown man came back with a
warning related to the challenge about to begin; the man advised
Scarlet with the following: No matter what strangers’ things you see or
what happens around you, do not let them take your attention or fear
because that will make the challenge harder, your fear will feed it. The
first obstacle appears, and she has to go through a cave to follow the
way that will lead her to the mountain peak; then, at the entrance of the
cave, shadows and weird figures appeared as if they were waiting on
her, as the man said; strong voices joined the shadows trying to put her
down and confuse her, these voices were saying, "follow me, I know the
way through". These voices confused her, and she fainted in a hole, she
hit her head so hard that she got unconscious for a moment, she was
bleeding so bad when she woke up. The man came back again to remind
her of the warning and make clear that more difficult things were about
to happen.
After walking inside the cave, she saw a little spark of light that entered
through the depths of the cave, this let her know that she was already
near the exit. When she left that cave, she could see that it was closer
to the top of the mountain. When she reached the small water fountain,

she decided to drink a little bit because she was very thirsty. She moves
around the Mountain and a shadow came out of nowhere and pushed
her inside, then, a small and bright rock caught her attention, it was the
first piece of the puzzle and tried to take it, but it was stuck inside the
hole, but later, after thinking about how to get it out, she thought to see
the notebook and this provided indications of how she could remove the
piece of the puzzle at once to find them. Finally, she managed to get
them out and the second part of the instructions began to appear in the
notebook.
Once she found a way out of the cave, the journey to the mountain peak
continued. However, before retaking the journey, a mysterious and
terrifying beast made of fire appeared out of nowhere with the purpose
to scare her away from climbing the mountain; the beast threw fire
against her, she was able to find a way out of the fire and located a
waterfall and hid in it. The beast decided to enter but when trying to do
so her body weakened and disappeared little by little, she received
burns on her arms and hair when she reached the middle of the
mountain passing through the oldest tree in the place. Scarlet sat down
with the idea of resting for a moment after having walked for 3 days
inside a cave without imagining what she would find while resting, she
realized that under the roots of that tree was the second marble piece of
the puzzle, Happy for finding it, she checked again the notebook and
managed to get it out of where it was. After she was walking for days
and nights to arrive at the top of the mountain a storm was forming in
the sky, and the wind that carried this storm destroyed everything in its
path; Scarlet desperately looked for refuge to pass the storm but,
unfortunately, the storm came faster causing Scarlet to get wet. She
finally found a small hole in which she spent her night while the storm
ended, but during that, a flash of lightning hit a tree which was near
Scarlet's refuge causing her troubles getting out.
At the end of the storm, scarlet look for options to get out of there and
she used a rock to be able to break some parts of the tree to get out of
the hole in which she spent part of the day trying to cover from the
storm, a few minutes later she finally could get out and continued her
way. Climbing the mountain in the afternoon, the sun was shining but
little by little it decreases its intensity, and the darkness covers
everything, despite that, Scarlet finally arrives at the top of the
mountain, and she never imagines that she would find a house there,
remarkably like the house in the forest and apparently was the same...
As she went deeper she saw many similarities in its walls, and when she
went up to the second level she realized that it was the same house in

the forest in which she was found, it seemed impossible but it was not,
she tried to think in a possible answer on how the house was there; with
no answer, she continued her search for the missing pieces and a clue of
where the last piece could be revealed in the book, "it was known that it
is there, but not where", trying to find answers while she continued
giving a tour in the house, the man appeared again but this time he told
her, "in order to find the last piece, she had to murder someone for the
first time", she did not like the idea of killing someone to continue.
Then, he told her, “You could do it to answer and clear up all your
doubts, many people will die and one death worth the life of hundreds",
that would be the only solution to give her the necessary courage and
take away her fear for what was approaching, she will have to do it.
She wanted to give up because she did not want to hurt anyone but
knowing that the lives of hundreds of people depend on that, she
realized that her answers were more than simple curiosity and maybe
that is why she was “the chosen one” and she agreed to sacrifice the
man by stabbing him 4 times and using her blood to open the puzzle
and its secrets. After having guided the blood to the place where the last
piece was, Scarlet quickly took it and then put them together. Thus,
opening all the answers to her doubt, finally, nothing happened, minutes
later she remembered the notebook, there were the words she needed
to complete the spell; after having done it, a light appeared and
baptized her as the chosen one and the victory of evil, and told her that
her purpose on earth was to overcome evil, and evil was part of her as
she was her sister, she has been waiting for more than a century old to
defeat her, but that day had finally come to achieve that purpose. The
evil had taken the form of a girl and her name was Juliet, and the
person who lay dead on the floor was her father, who for many years
had tried to defeat her but after so much research, he found the only
way to do it, a person who was strongly close and related to the chosen
one, and she was the only solution. Scarlet upon hearing this was
shocked to hear that she had killed her own father and the evil was due
to her sister and that she was the origin of the destruction that should
be destroyed soon, and what fueled her evil was fear; she was now
determined to kill Juliet, who name of origin was Hum, an ancient
demon of hate and pain.
Suddenly, Juliet appears behind her and said "Finally, my dear little
sister realized everything, I finally have you in front of me, you will die
today not even our father will be there to protect you as he did during
all this time before, no matter how many things I tried to do to kill you,
it just didn't work out", Scarlet when she knew this said "of course, now
everything makes sense because you say that I have always been the

one who takes away everything you want, but I have done nothing",
Hum said "that's what you do -nothing- and the world loves you, my
parents love you above all things, including me! that's why my hatred
has been growing on you and now nothing can make me change, only
your death, now you will die and feel how I feel, dead, I am pain and
death, now it is your turn".
Scarlet quickly remembered her weakness and confronted Hum, seeing
that bravery was her weakness, she used everything she had in her
favor and said that she was sorry to have all the love and attention of
her parents and to be like the only child because she has everything and
hum nothing, but that made Hum angry and she began to attack and
hurt her; they fought and fought with each other, one of them had to
die, but Scarlet knew that she was the chosen one and had to save the
world from hell and chaos, so she continued using words to destroy
Hum. Finally, she managed to reduce her size to that of the love in his
heart, she was almost non-existent, and finally, she dropped a stone on
Hum causing her die instantly, her death saved the world from the
nightmare and the pain they had. At the end of it all two glowing lights
appeared in front of her, they were her happy parents because she had
managed to put an end to everything. She said goodbye to them and
managed to leave the forest, dirty, gravely injured but happy to see the
people who had taken her in adoption happy, and she told them all that
happened. Juliet's parents were found dead on the shore of a lake, with
wound marks all over their body and no trace of blood they had
extracted all the blood they both had.

Jennifer Alondra Hernandez was born on the 6th of Mach 2000 in San
Miguel, El Salvador. Her mother’s name is Alba Yanira Hernandez
Romero, she is a Housewife.
Her childhood was good because she was living with his grandparents,
they were extremely lovely, and they all the time oversaw her and his 3
siblings when her mom was working.
She graduated from 9th grade, when she was 16 years old and all her
grades were particularly good, she moved to high school and choose
diplomat in English. So, this was a wonderful stage in her life. Therefore,
for her efforts she could apply for a scholarship, she could accede to the
university and now she is there. She is studying his third year´s
bachelor’s degree in English at Universidad de Oriente (UNIVO). She is
living in San Carlos, in Morazán department with her mom and
Stepfather and his 2 sisters and 1 brother.
Erika´s Biography
Erika Jisela Zelaya Reyes is a third-year student of bachelor’s degree in
English at the Universidad de Oriente (UNIVO) born on July 25, 2002.
She lives in Pasaquina city, department of La Unión, she lives with her
parents and two brothers younger than her. She finished her basic level
school training at the "Ramón Mendoza" school in pasaquina city in
2016, successfully completing her studies. In 2017 she began her high
school studies at the "Daniel Arias National Institute" in the same city,
obtaining with great pride one of the first places in the "PAES" test in
2018 and in that same year she successfully completed her high school
studies, in 2019 she begins a new stage by starting her higher education
at the Universidad de Oriente (UNIVO) where she is currently studying
her third year of professional training.
