Netballers to mark 75 years<br />

Hurunui Netball will reach a<br />

hugemilestonenext month.<br />

Local netballers are set to<br />

celebrate75years of netball in<br />

the Hurunuidistrict on Saturday,<br />

July26.<br />

Kaikoura will join in the<br />

festivities with the Hurunui<br />

Netball Association for the day at<br />

Culverden.<br />

Normal competition matches<br />

willstart at 9.30am,followed by<br />

feature games with the various<br />

Kaikoura teams.<br />

There will be ashort breakat<br />

12.30pm for formalities and<br />

cutting of acake, followed by<br />

afternoon tea at the end of the<br />

day’s play.<br />

Pastplayers, coaches, office<br />

bearers and anyone interested is<br />

welcome to attend.<br />

clash between the Glenmark<br />

under­14 team and atough<br />

Culverden Black team.<br />

The Glenmark team is on a<br />

developmentjourneywith five<br />

girls making the step up from<br />

6­aside to 7­aside, filling gaps left<br />

as other players move up the<br />

grades.<br />

The Glenmark girls jumped out to<br />

alead after the firstquarter,but<br />

Culverden showed excellent<br />

fightingspiritbybouncing back<br />

to trail by only one goal at<br />

halftime.<br />

Bothteamstraded goals in the<br />

third quarter, before Glenmark<br />

cametogether, winning the game<br />

by 3goals points on Glenmark’s<br />

first clubday of the season.<br />
