Hospital Golf Outing<br />
The <strong>Madison</strong> Health Foundation’s golf outing returns this year<br />
with a new name and format. The Memorial Golf Classic, formerly<br />
the Bob Powers Classic, will be held on Aug. 5 at the London Country<br />
Club. This new one-day format features two scramble flights<br />
with tee times at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Golfers receive a complimentary<br />
gift, snacks, and boxed lunch.<br />
This event is expected to draw more than 120 golfers and volunteers<br />
and provides sponsorship opportunities for businesses<br />
and organizations serving the <strong>Madison</strong> County<br />

Safety Expo<br />
The <strong>Madison</strong> County Safety Expo, hosted by the<br />
<strong>Madison</strong> County Emergency Management Agency, is<br />
set for 10 a.m. Aug. 28 at the <strong>Madison</strong> County Fairgrounds<br />
in London. The expo is free and family-friendly.<br />

Book Nook Sales<br />
The Friends of London Public Library are hosting<br />
Book Nook sales from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 7, Sept. 4,<br />
and Oct. 2. The Book Nook is located in the block building<br />
behind the library off of Logan Avenue. The sales<br />
feature books culled from the library’s collection. Also<br />
on <strong>July</strong> 3, the library will hold a surplus sale featuring<br />
computers and furniture.<br />
Car Wash to benefit Special Olympics<br />
A car wash is scheduled for <strong>July</strong> 10 from 10 a.m. to 2<br />
p.m. at Coughlin Automotive, 255 Lafayette St., London.<br />
The cost is $5 per car. Lunch will be served for donations.<br />
Proceeds benefit <strong>Madison</strong> County Special Olympics.<br />
Fair Office Hours<br />
The fair office at the <strong>Madison</strong> County Fairgrounds,<br />
205 Elm St., London, will be open special hours in the<br />
coming weeks:<br />
<strong>July</strong> 5-8—6-8:30 p.m.<br />
<strong>July</strong> 9—1-8 p.m.<br />
The office is located in the Coughlin Community<br />
Center and can be reached at (740) 852-1654. The public<br />
can stop in to purchase daily or weekly admission<br />
passes to this year’s fair. Additionally, anyone who<br />
wants to run for election to the fair board can pick up<br />
petitions during these hours.<br />
This year’s fair runs <strong>July</strong> 10-17.<br />
Summer Lunch Programs<br />
• London Church of the Nazarene, 224 Elm St., is<br />
offering free meals for all children ages 18 and younger—<br />
Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., through <strong>July</strong> 30.<br />
All meals will be served carryout style, either as drivethrough,<br />
walk-through or bike-through.<br />
• <strong>Madison</strong> County Vineyard, 106 Olive St., London,<br />
is offering free food for children under the age of 18.<br />
Fresh goods are available for pickup at the church from<br />
10 a.m. to noon and 6 to 7 p.m. on Mondays, through<br />
<strong>July</strong> 26. For more information or to make a donation,<br />

Alzheimer’s Family Support Group<br />
The Alzheimer’s Family Support Group meets at 6<br />
p.m. the first Thursday of each month at St. John’s<br />
Lutheran Church, 380 Keny Blvd., London. For more<br />
information, call Pat Baynes at (937) 269-3605. Everyone<br />
is welcome.<br />
HELP House<br />
Beginning <strong>July</strong> 7, H.E.L.P. House Community Outreach<br />
will re-open their choice food pantry for in-person<br />
shopping. The food pantry and related services will be<br />
open on Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesdays from 9<br />
a.m. to noon, and Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The drivethrough<br />
pantry pickup option will no longer be offered.<br />

<strong>Madison</strong>-Plains Golf Outing<br />
The <strong>Madison</strong>-Plains Football Golf Outing is set for<br />
<strong>July</strong> 24 at Locust Hills Golf Club, 5575 North River Rd.,<br />
Springfield. Registration is $75 per golfer and includes<br />
a cart and meal. Shotgun start is at 12 p.m. To register,<br />

<strong>Madison</strong> County Senior Center<br />
The <strong>Madison</strong> County Senior Citizens Center, 280 W.<br />
High St., London, is now open to the public and offers<br />

American Legion Post 201 in West Jefferson is offering<br />
a limited-item fish fry on the first and third Fridays<br />
of each month through October. Items include: fish and<br />
fries, $6; fish sandwich, $5; fries only, $1.50; and soda,<br />
$1. Hours are 4-7 p.m. Carryout and dine-in.<br />
Full Moon Bike Rides<br />
The Friends of <strong>Madison</strong> County Parks & Trails is<br />
hosting free bike rides on nights when the moon is full.<br />
Each ride starts at Phat Daddy’s Pizza, 15 E. First St.,<br />
London. Ride options are 14 miles and 25 miles. Dates<br />
and times are: <strong>July</strong> 24 at 8:30 p.m., Aug. 22 at 8 p.m.,<br />
Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m., and Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m.<br />
Mt. Sterling Community Center<br />
The Mount Sterling Community Center is located at<br />
164 E. Main St. Measures of social distancing, 10-person<br />
maximum attendance, and frequent sanitizing and<br />
hand washing are part of the center’s guidelines. For<br />
