the Shed are unrivalled in the Aboyne and
Mid Deeside area. Downstairs is the workshop
managed by Aboyne Men’s Shed with a range
of woodworking and metal working equipment
for general creating, repairing and hobby
activities which will appeal to a range of interest
groups. Upstairs is a very large flexible social
area. There is a kitchen, office and separate art
& craft space with storage - all of which can
be booked for user groups. There is full disabled
access, toilets, baby changing facilities and the
whole build is fitted out with wifi, solar panels,
CCTV, intruder alarms and there is also a sound
loop for those with hearing impairment. They
have thought of everything. We can’t wait to
use it for AVA events in the future!
Our Development Officer, Aileen, has been with
them since day one and has met and spoken
with the Trustees on a weekly basis. Aileen says,
“Its has been the greatest pleasure to support
this amazing group of volunteers who have
worked tirelessly over the last five and a bit years
to achieve the impossible. The journey that
Chair Mike Brooks and his team have been on
has been bumpy to say the least but their drive
and passion to deliver an exceptional building
for the whole community to enjoy has been
nothing short of extraordinary.”
