In this edition, we ask Lisa di Brazzá to be Frank and let us know a bit more<br />

about her. Lisa was elected as the Vice President - International in the last FAAA<br />

elections and has been a large part of the Member Support team.<br />

Our aim was to advise the Regional<br />

Government of ways their diaspora<br />

could maintain cultural and language<br />

ties with the Region.<br />

office from the age of 9 (there was<br />

no OOSH care or if it was available,<br />

the cost was prohibitive, so I went to<br />

work with my mother!)<br />

- Assisted the receiving dock,<br />

patternmakers, cutters and the tea<br />

lady until she was replaced by the<br />

Café Bar!<br />

- Relieved the receptionist and learnt<br />

the wonders of the switchboard<br />

and Telex.<br />

- Sales Assistant in the ‘seconds’ store.<br />

- Ran errands.<br />

In short, I was the office allrounder/<br />

temp during school and Uni holidays.<br />

I was initially paid $20 a week from<br />

petty cash which increased over the<br />

years until I was 14 and 9 months and<br />

hit minimum wage!<br />

Why did you want to work for<br />

the FAAA?<br />

I have been a member of various<br />

Unions since I was legally able to<br />

work and have always stood up for<br />

workers’ rights and conditions.<br />

I had reached a point where I wanted<br />

to put my knowledge and enthusiasm<br />
