Etch<strong>in</strong>g Hill WI<br />

As planned <strong>and</strong> with all Covid measures <strong>in</strong> place,<br />

27 of our members met up for afternoon tea at<br />

the Chetwynd Arms <strong>in</strong> celebration of 75 years of the<br />

Etch<strong>in</strong>g Hill WI. The birthday celebration was the<br />

first time many of the members had met s<strong>in</strong>ce the<br />

p<strong>and</strong>emic began.<br />

The marquee was prettily done up <strong>and</strong> the weather<br />

was warm <strong>and</strong> sunny. It was fantastic to meet up with<br />

everyone despite our socially distanced tables <strong>and</strong> the<br />

consensus was that it had been a brilliant day. Our thanks<br />

go to Fran O’Brien for organis<strong>in</strong>g the venue <strong>and</strong> to<br />

Margaret Porter for ensur<strong>in</strong>g Covid safety measures. Also,<br />

thanks to the Chetwynd Arms for the lovely spread. To<br />

f<strong>in</strong>ish we were all given a celebration cupcake!<br />

On to the even<strong>in</strong>g we were jo<strong>in</strong>ed by WI members<br />

from Longdon <strong>and</strong> <strong>Rugeley</strong> for the monthly Zoom<br />

meet<strong>in</strong>g. Margaret Devey welcomed this month’s speaker,<br />

Vicky Farmer, herself a WI member. Vicky gave a<br />

wonderful talk on ‘A Day <strong>in</strong> The Life of a Quiz Show<br />

Contestant.’<br />

Vicky’s <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> quiz shows stemmed from a lifelong<br />

love of all th<strong>in</strong>gs trivia. She went on to appear <strong>in</strong> a variety<br />

of quiz shows, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g The <strong>Chase</strong>. Vicky’s next ambition<br />

is to appear on Who Wants to be a Millionaire <strong>and</strong> we all<br />

wish her well with that.<br />

Other bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>in</strong>cluded a review of the previous<br />

weeks committee meet<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> a rem<strong>in</strong>der of upcom<strong>in</strong>g<br />

events which <strong>in</strong>clude the charity coffee morn<strong>in</strong>g on 27th<br />

<strong>October</strong> hosted by Mary Davis <strong>and</strong> the Christmas party<br />

provisionally booked for 1st December <strong>2021</strong>.<br />
