Style Magazine - October - El Dorado County Foothills - 2021

No matter what type of good or service you're seeking (preschool, plumber, personal trainer, or a solid slice of pizza…), you’ve opened the right reading material. This issue, our biggest of the year, features the 2021 Readers’ Choice Award winners—the best our region has to offer in health, wellness, food, drink, home goods, arts, culture, shopping, and more. Turn to page 35 to find out if your favorite people and places made the list and use it as a pre-screened, reliable resource the next time you’re seeking a top doctor or memorable meal out. Besides the “Best of 2021,” we also delve deep into the spooky but oh-so scrumptious season of ghosts, goblins, and gourds in The 10 Spot (“Celebrate Halloween”; page 16), Editor’s Picks (“12 Autumn Essentials”; page 42), and Taste (“Must-Try Fall Foods”; page 62); introduce you to 5 local breast cancer organizations in “Fight Like a Girl” (page 20); and talk about the importance of home staging when it comes to selling your home in “Seal the Deal” (page 48).

In what may be the most unusual name pairing since chicken and waffles,
Crepes & Burgers has opened their third location—this one on Iron
Point Road in Folsom. Unlike the C & W phenomenon, you won’t find the
namesakes combined in some weird culinary tryst. Rather, they’re part of a
large menu featuring surprisingly good burgers, deliciously sweet crêpes,
some unusual lunch and dinner crêpes (that I can’t wait to try!), soups,
salads, pastas, pancakes, eggs benedicts, omelets…did I miss anything? The
entire menu is available all day every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., so you can
have dessert for breakfast, breakfast for dinner, or mix it up however you
please. I ordered their BBQ Burger medium rare, and guess what? It came
out medium rare (a rarity in burgerland these days). Burger aficionados
should pay them a visit; their menu features about a dozen combinations,
including vegetarian patties. I also had a Strawberry Chocolate
Crêpe—a doughy pillow with fresh berries, whipped cream, powdered
sugar, and semi-sweet chocolate sauce that would be appropriate for
dessert, breakfast, or both. I swore I wasn’t going to finish it but ended up
devouring every bite. Stop in and try one of their delicious creations!
