EXPECTATIONS OF THE PRESIDENT
Successful leadership in any educational institution is judged by how well its leader meets the expectations of its board, meets the needs of its
students, and responds to the input of its faculty, administration, parents, and other constituent groups. Some of the goals articulated in the
current Strategic Plan and/or by board members include:
• Work with the Endowment Campaign committee to raise the remaining $6.6 million of the $26 million initial goal of cash and planned
gifts over the next 5 years.
• Continue BCHS being seen as the premier academic school in Bakersfield while concurrently intertwining our spiritual focus. Achieve the
highest AP pass rates/SAT scores/National Merit scores in the Valley.
• Retain excellent faculty by ensuring BCHS has competitive salaries and continued enhancement of medical and retirement benefits.
• Grow to an enrollment 700+ students. Then, help the board determine the vision for what happens next: Add additional buildings for
increased capacity? What programs should be developed next, regardless of enrollment?
• Keep BCHS consistently competitive in all sports; at least three valley championships per year; recognized for academic success and
sportsmanship.
