NostalgiaSurvivalPRATHEESHAANN VARGHESEand HopeThis pandemic has brought in a lot of negativityand pessimism. We are fearful when we go out andcautious when we come in. We are apprehensiveabout almost everything. Social distancing hasbecome the order of the day. Endless handwashingand sanitizing are becoming too monotonous.Economic depression has set in. Many lost theirjobs. No parties, visits to cinemas or restaurants, nooutdoor exercise or work-out. It is as though,whatever that was desirable and made life worthliving, can make the difference between life anddeath now. Oh! It appears as though these days aregoing to last forever.But, even when dark clouds loom over, patterns innature inspire hope. After every storm comesblissful calm. Nature gives us seasons without end.Between mountains lie beautiful valleys. Adownward descent is followed by an upwardascent, sooner or later. Will the ever- rolling tidesbother about the clams and oysters washedashore? Like-wise mankind must and will move on,carrying with them the pearls that they found inthe oysters on the way. These pearls are nothingbut the priceless lessons from past mistakes thatmake us wise and prepared for our onward journey.The empty seashells left ashore will wither in timeand will be blown away by the wind. Such is history!We can go on for weeks without friends and family ordays without food or hours without water, but forhow long can we go on without hope? We cannot, notin these times, neither before nor after. Hopecombined with will, works magic; Tomorrow will shineon the hopeful and willful, with promise of joys yet tobe. Stay Strong!
