Hear Her Roar didn't look like the norm in their industry, they were like ‘my homie!’ “They would need 50 gallons of paint. I'm like, okay, and I'm delivering $^!# in my stilettos. It was great!” Muller was so successful in her new field that she soon felt she was outgrowing her role at Parker Paint. She had already been flirting with Sherwin Williams as a potential next employer, but Muller says the company had a poor track record of hiring women, especially women of color. “So, I was their guinea pig to be the first female salesperson in the Pacific Northwest doing outside sales,” she says. “I did very well and that kind of led to me being in industrial sales, industrial coatings. “I loved it, so I did that for almost three years at Sherwin. And I was a baller! Plus, I was able to help them cultivate more of a women-friendly environment for our Pacific Northwest region. I was an advocate for our company to hire more women in the stores and to hire more sales women in the sales force and we were able to do that.” THE PERFECT MATCH While at Sherwin Williams, Muller attended every trade show she could. At one such event in 2012, she met her future second husband, Aaron. At the time, Aaron had a pressure wash company that he was trying to grow. “We decided that from there that we were going to build our empire,” Muller says. “We did get married and from there, we have just built and built and built.” The couple possesses different gifts that -- blended together -- makes for a formidable team. “I am the hunter,” Muller says. “I am really good at bringing in business. Making connections. Keeping those connections. Building the relationships, so that my people don't go anywhere else. “Meanwhile, my husband is amazing at building systems and processes so that it makes our lives easier.” Since meeting and marrying in 2012, the couple has bought 10 companies. “Our philosophy is to buy an existing business and grow profits so that it can run without us,” Muller explains. “What better way to get a business than something that's already established? “If you get the proper financials, you already know what the revenues are, you know what the lease is, you don't have to do the build out, you might have to do some tweaking is all… so our business style is always to buy an existing business. “We're good at buying businesses, getting them working the way that we want them to, and then letting our team run the companies. We do not micromanage. That's kind of the way that we empower our employees - empower our management team.” But it wasn’t all sweetness and light for the couple in the beginning. “His house had gone into foreclosure, he had no money, and my house went into short sale. Honestly, I don't even know how we did it,” Muller recalls. “He bought me a wedding ring from a pawn shop because that's all we had, Now, fast forward only 10 years, and we have built an empire. It's just been such a great road.” But it started with Mr. Pressure Wash. “When I met my husband, he was at about a couple hundred thousand gross revenues a year,” Muller says. “Now, when I was at Sherwin Williams, my expertise was property management. And so property management was exactly the way that we built Mr. Pressure Wash. “When I came on board, he basically had a retail store servicing pressure wash equipment and creating soaps and stuff like that; so I was telling him ‘there's a whole world of property management out there, let's kill this $^!#! I was able to adapt the things that I learned and saw at Sherwin Williams and create them into a conducive turnkey program for our company.” 26 | PRESSURE WASH NEWS | VOL. 3, NO. 4 | FALL 2021
