Riverside Theatres lines up Broadway hit
Riverside Theatres is partnering with Sydney Festival
to launch the Australian premiere season of the
Broadway smash A Chorus Line as part of its
dazzling 2022 program.
Darlinghurst Theatre Company’s reimagined
production of the Tony Award-winning musical,
which was originally slated to open last year, is now
set to kick off at Riverside Theatres on 6 January.
Previously postponed twice due to the pandemic,
this new production of the legendary dance
musical features brilliant choreography from one
of Australia’s most revered talents, director Amy
Campbell, whose credits include the Australian
productions of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights
and Hamilton.
A Chorus Line tells of the struggles Broadway
performers go through to be seen, heard, recognised
and respected. Featuring the music of Marvin
Hamlisch, including “Dance Ten; Looks Three”,
“What I Did for Love” and “One”, A Chorus Line
explores what it means to put everything on the line.

Remembrance Day
SOUND WEST Technology
& Music Festival will bring
together live music performances
in venues across Parramatta and
Greater Western Sydney, along with a
Technology and Music Conference at CommBank
Stadium where young creators, professionals and
entrepreneurs will network with industry leaders.
The festival will further enhance Parramatta’s
growing reputation as a smart city and the centre
of global Sydney. It will also contribute to the City’s
revitalisation plan for local and night-time economies
by attracting thousands of professionals, visitors
and artists from around Australia and the world.
Council is a key partner in the not-for-profit event,
committing $250,000 in funding. Other event
partners include Destination NSW, Create NSW,
Western Sydney Business Connection, Western
Sydney Business Chamber, ARIA, Tik Tok, and NEC.

The City of Parramatta will commemorate Remembrance Day
with services in Parramatta and Epping.
Each year on 11 November, Australians commemorate
the anniversary of the Armistice, which ended the
First World War (1914–18), with Remembrance Day.
At 11am, across the country, people observe one
minute’s silence in memory of those who have died
or suffered in wars and armed conflicts, and in
appreciation of their sacrifice.
This year, the City of Parramatta will commemorate
Remembrance Day with public memorials held by
Parramatta and Epping RSL sub-branches at Prince
Alfred Square and Boronia Park. Council encourages
the community to attend a memorial service
or, alternatively, tune in to the live-stream of the
Sydney service.
Diwali celebrations
If you’ve had the chance to wander along the
Parramatta River foreshore and through Centenary
Square recently, you may have noticed the
colourful and joyful lighting displays. These were
installed to celebrate Diwali, the ‘Festival of Lights’,
which took place last week.
The festival is one of our Indian community’s
biggest annual events and is observed by Hindus,
Sikhs, Jains and Newar Buddhists around the
world. We hope our Indian community members
had a very happy Diwali!
The lighting displays will remain up throughout the
festive season as we move into Christmas, New
Year’s Eve, Australia Day and Lunar New Year.
Those attending will be subject to COVID-19 public
health restrictions, including proof of vaccination
or a medical exemption and QR code check-in.

Parramatta to host SOUND WEST
Riverside Theatres in partnership with Sydney Festival is
presenting the Broadway hit musical A Chorus Line in January.

The City of Parramatta is proud to announce it will
be hosting Australia’s first major music, tech and
networking expo, SOUND WEST, which will run
from 30 March to 3 April 2022.
The Parramatta River foreshore and Centenary Square have
been decorated in colourful lighting displays for Diwali and the
upcoming festive season.
Please note: Since printed copies of many of our local newspapers are no longer available,
all Development Applications (DAs), items on exhibition, and public notices will now be available
via Council’s website: cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au
Council Meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6.30pm. In line with
NSW Government’s easing of COVID-19 restrictions, fully vaccinated members of the public can
now attend in person. COVID-safe measures will be in place and attendees must check in, show
proof of vaccination status, and wear a face mask. The one person per 4 square metre rule will also
