COWAN<br />

Mark William Cowan,<br />

66, of Hilliard, Ohio,<br />

passed away peacefully<br />

at his home surrounded<br />

by his loving wife and<br />

children on Jan. 12, <strong>2022</strong>.<br />

Born to Charles and<br />

Anna (Hickman) Cowan<br />

on Sept. 10, 1955, in<br />

Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Walnut<br />

Ridge High School in 1974. Mark was a selfmade<br />

man, starting at Stanley Electric, U.S.<br />

Company in 1981 as a temporary employee<br />

and hired on full-time in 1982. After 34<br />

years of service, Mark retired as the executive<br />

vice president. Mark served on the<br />

board of directors for <strong>Madison</strong> County Hospital<br />

from 2009 to 2015 and was awarded<br />

the <strong>Madison</strong> County Chamber of Commerce<br />

Bell Ringer award in 2016. Mark enjoyed<br />

golfing, landscaping, cooking and most any<br />

sporting event. Mark loved all people and<br />

never met a stranger. He invested in people<br />

and relationships throughout his lifetime.<br />

He will be sorely missed by many.<br />

Mark married Jennie (Wasson) Cowan in<br />

November 1998, and they shared nearly 24<br />

years of exciting adventures. They enjoyed<br />

their lake house in South Carolina and traveling<br />

as much as possible. Mark’s greatest<br />

treasures were his children, Amanda<br />

(William) Linkous, Kelsey Cowan (fiancé<br />

Mike Burkett), and Grant Cowan. He was a<br />

hands-on dad who would take great pleasure<br />

in embarrassing his kids, but he always<br />

made sure they knew how proud he was of<br />

them and how dearly loved they were. Mark<br />

also was blessed with three grandkids,<br />

Brea, Blake, and Brody Linkous, whom he<br />

loved passionately.<br />

He was preceded in death by his parents,<br />

Charles and Anna Cowan, and brother-inlaw,<br />

David Kuhn. He is survived by sisters,<br />

Candice (Greg) Buskirk and Leesa Kuhn.<br />

Mark courageously fought glioblastoma<br />

for 3.5 years but never lost his joy of life. His<br />

sense of humor never waivered, even<br />

though his daily challenges were enormous.<br />

He showed us all how to live life to the<br />

fullest with grace, kindness and dignity.<br />

Visitation and a funeral service were<br />

held on Jan. 18 at Tidd Family Funeral<br />

Home, Hilliard. Interment followed at Wesley<br />

Chapel Cemetery.<br />

WEIMER<br />

Douglas William Weimer, 64, of London<br />

Ohio, passed away on Feb. 7, <strong>2022</strong>, at The<br />

OSU Wexner Medical Center surrounded by<br />

his loving family. He was born on Sept. 28,<br />

1957, in Columbus, the son of Bill and<br />

Dorothy (Hern) Weimer.<br />

Doug was retired from London Correctional<br />

Institute after 30 years of service. He<br />

also retired after 36 years of service as the<br />

sexton for Kirkwood Cemetery and also digging<br />

graves for several cemeteries in <strong>Madison</strong><br />

County. He was raised at London First<br />

United Methodist Church and then attended<br />

Newport Church of Christ and<br />

Christian Union. Doug loved playing his<br />

trumpet with the Newport CCCU Band.<br />

Doug was a HUGE fan of Walt Disney<br />

World, making more than 50 trips with<br />

family and friends alike. Doug adored his<br />

grandkids.<br />

He is survived by: his loving wife of almost<br />

43 years, Robyn (Roach) Weimer; children,<br />

Elizabeth (Philip) Cornwell of<br />

Elizabeth City, N.C., and David (Natalie)<br />

Weimer of Grove City, Ohio; siblings, Mary<br />

(David) Pizzi of Middleburg, Fla., and<br />

Steven Weimer of Indian Head, Md.; grandchildren,<br />

Aubrey June Weimer, Sawyer<br />

Weimer, Chayn “Rooster” Cornwell, Merrick<br />

“Duke” Cornwell, and Grey “G.W.”<br />

Cornwell; numerous nieces, nephews and<br />

cousins; and many, many friends. Doug was<br />

preceded in death by his parents.<br />

Calling hours took place on Feb. 10 at<br />

Lynch Family Funeral Home, London. A funeral<br />

service was held Feb. 11 at Newport<br />

Church of Christ and Christian Union, London,<br />

with Pastor Mark Barth officiating. Interment<br />

followed at Kirkwood Cemetery,<br />

London. Memorial contributions may be<br />

COCHRUN<br />

Steven Edward Cochrun, 53, of West Jefferson<br />

passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 8,<br />

<strong>2022</strong>. Steven was born in London, Ohio, on<br />

<strong>March</strong> 14, 1968, to Gareth Cochrun and<br />

Shirley Steele. He graduated from West Jefferson<br />

High School in 1986 with honors. He<br />

went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree<br />

in architecture and a master’s degree<br />

in city and regional planning from The Ohio<br />

State University. After graduating, he was<br />

employed by the city of Zanesville and the<br />

city of Columbus as a city planner.<br />

Steven was preceded in death by his parents.<br />

He is survived by his sister, Leslie<br />

(Matt) Werner, and nephews, Quinten and<br />

Tobin of Wauconda, Ill.<br />

Steven was an avid sports fan of the Ohio<br />

State Buckeyes, Columbus Crew, and<br />

Columbus Blue Jackets. He also adored his<br />

cats and rescued several strays over the<br />

years. He was a very caring person and will<br />

be greatly missed by family and friends. Per<br />

Steven’s wishes, there were no services.<br />

RICE<br />

John “Andy” Rice, 55, of South<br />

Charleston died on Feb. 21, <strong>2022</strong>, in Springfield<br />

Regional. Born on Aug. 8, 1966, in<br />

Springfield, he was a son of John Marlin<br />

and Donna Jean Rice McKenzie.<br />

Andy had a passion for motorcycles and<br />

worked for the Mid-Ohio Division of Harley<br />

Davidson throughout his career.<br />

He is survived by: his son, John Anthony<br />

(Brittany) Rice; three daughters, Sadie Elizabeth<br />

Rice, Sarah Emily Jean (Andrew) Angles,<br />

and Grayce Nikole Rice; grandchildren,<br />

Natalie, Eliana, Amelia, Isaac, Owen,<br />

and Laz; brother, Mike (Jahna) Rice; nieces<br />

and nephews, Danielle, Michaela (Jeff), and<br />

Michael; and many great friends, including<br />

Archie, Lenny and Merritt. Andy was preceded<br />

in death by his parents.<br />

A celebration of life was held on Feb. 28<br />

at Faith Assembly Worship Center, London,<br />

with Pastor Jordan Smith officiating. Visitation<br />

was held beforehand Eberle-Fisher<br />

Funeral Home and Crematory, London.<br />

MORRIS<br />

Joanna D. Morris, 87, of West Jefferson,<br />

Ohio, went to Heaven on Feb. 22, <strong>2022</strong>. Born<br />

in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Thomas and<br />

Audrey Kennedy, Jo was a long-time Democrat<br />

representative at the <strong>Madison</strong> County<br />

Board of Elections before her retirement.<br />

In addition to her parents, Joanna was<br />

preceded in death by: her beloved husband,<br />

Robert “Rabbit” Morris; her son, Howard<br />

Morris; grandson, Jason Morris; and siblings,<br />

Myron, Deanna and Mary Alice. Jo is<br />

survived by: her daughter, Brenda (Rick)<br />

Romanoff; son, Mike Morris; grandchildren,<br />

Erin Converse, Brandy (Trey) Meekins,<br />

Allie Romanoff, Jessica Romanoff, Ben Morris<br />

and Chris Morris; her great-grandchildren,<br />

Brayden (Jayde) Morris, Breana<br />

Morris, Mason Converse, Tate Converse,<br />

Kennedy Converse, Dominic Morris, Lily<br />

Meekins, Quinn Meekins, Keller Meekers<br />

and Violet Hatley; great-great-grandchildren,<br />

Hendrix and Tegan Morris; and former<br />

daughter-in-law, Teresa (Ron) Garver.<br />

An avid bowler, Jo traveled throughout<br />

the United States participating in many<br />

tournaments and making life-long friends.<br />

She was a parishioner of Saints Simon and<br />

Jude Catholic Church in West Jefferson.<br />

Visitation was set for 2-4 p.m. <strong>March</strong> 6<br />

at Rader-McDonald-Tidd Funeral Home,<br />

West Jefferson. The funeral service was set<br />

for 1 p.m. <strong>March</strong> 7 at the funeral home with<br />

the Rev. Dwayne McNew officiating, with<br />

burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway.<br />

EVANS<br />

Judith Ann Evans, 81, of Springfield died<br />

on Feb. 23, <strong>2022</strong>, in Springfield Regional<br />

Hospital. Born on <strong>March</strong> 25, 1940, she was<br />

a daughter of James W. and Mary Francis<br />

(Hayner) Greenwalt.<br />

She had spent her lifetime as a caregiver<br />

and cherished spending time with her family<br />

more than anything.<br />

Judith is survived by: a son, Chris (Becky)<br />

Evans; daughter-in-law, Lisa Evans; grandchildren,<br />

April (Moe), Christy (Nathan),<br />

Christian, and Tony Jr (Tess); great-grandchildren,<br />

Tailar, Destynie, Jeff, Chy-Lin,<br />

Anna, and Christopher; great-great granddaughters,<br />

A’ameree and Alaiyah. She was<br />

preceded in death by: her parents; brother,<br />

Barry Greenwalt; half-brother, James<br />

Greenwalt Jr.; and son, Tony Evans.<br />

Per Judith’s wishes, no public services<br />

FOULK<br />

Marjorie Ann Foulk, 91, of London died<br />

on Feb. 22, <strong>2022</strong>, at home. Born on <strong>March</strong><br />

31, 1930, in Parma Ohio, Marjorie had<br />

resided at Lake Choctaw since 1988. She<br />

was a well-known artist throughout <strong>Madison</strong><br />

County and a founder of the London Visual<br />

Arts Guild. She attended Trinity<br />

Episcopal Church.<br />

Marjorie was preceded in death by: her<br />

parents, Floyd D. and Charlotte F. Martin;<br />

husband, Clemmons M. Parrish; husband,<br />

Donald R. Foulk; son, Bennett Parrish; and<br />

stepson Douglas Foulk. She is survived by:<br />

sister, Elizabeth Coffey; children (with<br />

Clemmons Parrish), Chrissann Berry,<br />

Grace Parrish, Greer Pasco, and Gavin Parrish;<br />

stepdaughter, Debbie Foulk Freter;<br />

grandchildren, Jessie Caffery, Charles<br />

Berry, Ian Berry, Charlotte (Berry) Hughes,<br />

and Emma Parrish; many great-grandchildren;<br />

and countless dear friends.<br />

The family will hold a private celebration<br />

SHARRETT<br />

Richard F. Sharrett, 76, of Mount Sterling,<br />

Ohio, passed away on Feb. 25, <strong>2022</strong>, at<br />

home. Born in Mount Sterling on the family<br />

farm to the late Robert and Esta Sharrett,<br />

Richard was a graduate of The Plains High<br />

School, Class of 1963, and was a veteran of<br />

the United States Army during the Vietnam<br />

War. Richard retired from Battelle Memorial<br />

Institute after 40 years of dedicated<br />

service. A part-time farmer, Richard was a<br />

long-time member of London Church of<br />

Christ in Christian Union.<br />

In addition to his parents, Richard was<br />

preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose<br />

Mae Sharrett, who died in 2012, and by his<br />

sister, Mary Elizabeth Sharrett.<br />

He is survived by: his son, Richard F.<br />

Sharrett II; sister, Anna Hill; brothers, Donnie<br />

Sharrett and Mike (Kim) Sharrett;<br />

brothers-in-law, Bill (Susie) Cordle and Tim<br />

Cordle; and his many loving nieces and<br />

nephews.<br />

Visitation was held on <strong>March</strong> 3 and a funeral<br />

service was held on <strong>March</strong> 4 with Pastor<br />

Lee Stanley officiating, both at London<br />

Church of Christ in Christian Union. Burial<br />

followed at Koontz Cemetery, Jeffersonville,<br />
