New education & interpretation centre at Lake St Clair<br />
Construction is due to start on a new Education and Interpretation Centre within Sleeping Water Lodge at Lake St Clair<br />
in Tasmania's Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park in 2012. The new centre will strengthen Tasmania's offering of<br />
wilderness experiences and open it up to new markets of high-end education tourism.<br />

Launceston's Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG) reopens<br />
The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG) at Launceston's Royal Park has officially reopened following<br />
extensive renovations. The restoration work has returned the gallery to its original 1890s design: ideal for exhibiting its<br />
impressive collection of Tasmanian colonial art, including works by renowned colonial artists Robert Dowling, William<br />
Gould and John Glover.<br />

Historic Shene Estate opens to the public<br />
The iconic Shene Estate, located on Tasmania's Heritage Highway, 30 minutes drive north of Hobart has recently opened<br />
to the public for the first time, offering exclusive tours ofthe site. Settled in 1819 and privately owned ever since, Shene<br />
Estate has a fascinating history of convicts, free settlers, and the trails and tribulations of growing wheat to support<br />
markets in both Sydney and Hobart in Australia's very early history. The walking tours (which include a high tea) are led by<br />
the current owners, and give a personal insight into the history ofthe estate, its architecture, and the families who have<br />
