With two cars bearing the registrations A4 AHH
and 4 AHH, it’s hardly surprising passers by think you’re
one of the Bisto Kids – remember the Ah! Bisto ads?
Come to think of it, there have been those who think they
belong to a fan of horror movies…
And though those kind of quirky comments always raises a
smile on Ashley Heath’s face, the rationale behind his two
insignias is, just like millions of other personalised
registrations lovers out there, that they simply signal his
initials and combine with his lucky number.
Ashley, who runs his family business, Coventry-based Tubs
& Tiles, first fell in love with personalised registrations when
a close friend bought him A4 AHH to mark his 21st
birthday.
The 40-year-old followed that up by buying 4 AHH after
spotting it in one of our auctions in 2001.

Fortunately for him, it wasn’t contested and he snapped it up
with a phone bid for its £1,900 reserve and it now sits on his
wife’s Ford Galaxy.
“While to many, a numberplate is a piece of plastic that sits on
your car, motorbike or lorry,” said Ashley, “to me they truly
live up to the moniker of being ‘personal’ and I love them.”
“I once read that buying a personal registration is the perfect
gift and mine is a testament of that. It has been with me since
my 21st birthday and it’ll stay with me while I am able to
drive.”
He added: “While they were bought to reflect my lucky
number and initials, inadvertently they have raised a fair few
smiles. Over the years I’ve lost count how many people have
stopped me and asked if I’m a Bisto gravy fan or a horror
movie devotee because of the connotations towards Ahhhh
and AHH.”
