Spring is finally in the
air, and with it comes
a whole host of
things to do around
our county. Here’s
my pick of what’s on
in and around Notts
during April and May.
April of course welcomes Easter,
so expect to see seasonal
activities for the kids popping
up as we get closer. Already
announced is Belvoir Castle’s
half-term family friendly Easter
Adventure (1-8 April). Journey
through Belvoir’s formal gardens,
solving Easter activity puzzles
along the way.
Enjoy an immersive experience in
the woodlands of Rufford Abbey
(8-17 April) as the creatures come
to life for an hour of puppetry,
performers, music and excitement
with an adaptation of the Beatrix
Potter classic Peter Rabbit.
Step into history at Bromley
House Library (2 April) as Times
columnist and Bromley House
Library President, Ann Treneman
hosts a special day in the library
and garden with the team leading
its restoration. They will tell the
history, and why it is exciting
a growing number of garden
historians.
Whether you are a Nottingham
resident or visitor, the multi award
winning Robin Hood Town Tour
is the definitive way to learn all
about the world famous legend
and to find out the best that the
city has to offer (9, 16, 23, 30
April/ 7, 14, 21, 28 May).
Fans of history can also enjoy a
fascinating day out at Britain’s
finest Victorian water works
by visiting a Steaming Day at
Papplewick Pumping Station
(17-18 April/1-2 May) or you
could combine history with a
spot of ghost hunting when
Haunted Heritage investigate
the stunning Holme Pierrepont
Hall (8 April).
There’s plenty of live entertainment
to choose from too, starting
with the Motorpoint Arena.
Experience live entertainment like
never before with Champions
of Magic (2 April) – an evening
of impossible illusions and
spectacular special effects.
Witness a daring escape from
Houdini’s water torture cell, and
levitation high above the stage.
Craig David drops in (7 April)
then The Masked Singer Live
(16 April), an all-new stage
production of the hit tv show
visits with mystery celebrities.
Think you can guess ‘who’s that
behind the mask?’ Don’t miss
it! Dua Lipa visits (26 April)
and May welcomes one of the
most influential bands to emerge
from New York’s punk scene,
Blondie (5 May). I’m looking
forward to this next one - Alan
Partridge brings STRATAGEM,
a live stage show that promises
to inform, educate and entertain
in approximately equal measure
(6/7 May), Little Mix follow (9/10
May) with their ‘Confetti’ tour.
Get LOST IN MUSIC! (13 May)
for a musical journey straight to
the heart of Disco! Relive some of
the greatest songs of all time from
artists such as Donna Summer,
Gloria Gaynor, Earth, Wind & Fire,
Sister Sledge and Chic.
Direct from London’s West
End, A Celebration of George
Michael calls in (14 May), we
then have The Script (24 May)
celebrating a journey that has
included five UK No.1 albums
and six billion streams with the
release of the career-spanning
greatest hits album ‘Tales From
The Script’.
Finally, EM-Con returns for 2022
(28/29 May) with a show that’s
set to be out of this world.
