Cat of theWeek
Kitten is named in honour of
the brave Ukrainian struggle
This week’s Cat Of The Week has been
named after Ukraine’s capital city.
“Our kitten Kyiv has named in honor of the Ukrainian
people who are putting up such a brave fight for their
lives in Kyiv,” Jonine from Gladesville’s World League
for Protection of Animals Adoption Centre said.
“Amazing little Kyiv is likewise putting up a very tenacious
fight for life after he was dumped in a small
air tight container at the bottom of our donation bin
last week.
“After being found he has been lovingly fed with
syringes of formula around the clock but at only one
week of age this tiny kitten is so helpless and venerable.
“He is an enthusiastic feeder who sleeps a lot but
he does try to stumble around and explore at feeding
time.”
Little Kyiv needs a loving owner who can take on his
brave struggle with him.
“His chances of survival are not great but be assured
we are doing all we can for this little hero and we assure
readers Kyiv will not be killed.”
Anyone who can help little Kyiv in any way is urged
to phone Jonine on 0409 741 414.
“In spite of numerous appeals for essential information
about Kyiv, the coward who dumped him has
shamefully not helped and we not been able to find
a suitable lactating mother cat to help nourish him.”

Fr MARTIN’S MUSINGS
God at the top of our list
A priest friend of mine
recently shared with me
this insightful story when
he visited a lady in her
home, she said;
“I know it’s important
to keep God’s word but I
really don’t need to go to
church to do that.”
My friend without hesitation
replied;
“I wish that I could
be that strong in doing
God’s will without needing
to go to church.”
This was not the response
that this lady
was expecting to hear
and she quickly changed
the subject to her family.
It is interesting in life as
to how many people (me
included) have a written
list for the things that we

are to do each day.
For example, what
type of groceries we will
buy, making an appointment
for a medical procedure
or remembering
to contact someone on
their birthday.
Yet I often wonder how
many people have on
the top of their list each
day to give God time
in personal prayer and
communal prayer each
week at their church.
The important point
to remember is that if
we have God at the top
of our list how often the
other routine things in
our list will happen so
much better.
Jesus of Nazareth had
something to say about
the importance of making
time with God in
these words;
“Watch and pray that
you will not fall into
temptation as the spirit
is willing but the flesh is
weak.” ( Matthew Chapter
26 verse 41).

children to come and play in our spaces,”
she said.
“We have a play area in a wonderful garden
that even houses a giant beehive.
“We also have a great kids sculpture trail as
part of Eden Unearthed: art in the gardens,
with challenging questions around many
works that promote thought and questioning.”
She said there will be different and fun activities
all day during the Festival.
“First up, get your hands dirty and learn
about worms and composting organic matter,
then come along for a coffee with the
kids at 9:30am and we will show you how
to transform those coffee grounds and tea
leaves into compost, thanks to worms.
“Each child can take home a mini milk bottle
worm farm to watch and continue to learn
from these amazing critters at home too.
“At 11am you can join our Living With Wildlife
