The Weekly Times | TWT | 30 March 2022
The Weekly Times - TWT - cheekily describes itself as a campaigning, crusading, truth-seeking, death defying, Aussie battler-aligned, one-eyed-Tiger-led news organisation dedicated to Sydney's north west. It's one of the few remaining independently run community newspapers and turned 100 years old on September 1, 2021 - so if you want to show your support for independent media, have a quick look at the paper, submit a letter to the editor via its website or like or share one of its posts on social media. The flip book - or digital edition/replica - of the 30th March 2022 edition of TWT can be reached here: https://weeklytimes.com.au/the-weekly-times-twt-30th-march-2022/ And the most current edition of TWT is always reachable using this short address: bit.ly/OurTWT

☐ Josie from Link Wentworth is pictured with scholarship recipient Tina at the recent
scholarship ceremony.
Local community housing
provider, Link Wentworth has
donated $100,000 in scholarships
to help local residents
to pay for education, training,
hobbies and self-development.
Since being established in
2011, Link Wentworth (formerly
Link Housing) has donated a
total of half a million dollars
through their Scholarship Program.
Eastwood resident Tina, 41,
applied for a scholarship so she
could purchase the equipment
she needed to help her complete
a degree.
“I was unable to continue my
university studies as my new
course requirement was specific
equipment needed for designing
software,” she said
“I felt like there was no hope
for me as I definitely couldn’t afford
this.”
With Link Wentworth’s financial
assistance, Tina says she
can continue to pursue her
goals.
“I can see a positive, exciting
and bright future for myself in a
career I am passionate about.”
Tina and other local recipients
received their awards from
Hornsby Mayor Philip Ruddock
AO, at a Scholarship Program
Awards ceremony this month
at Link Wentworth’s Chatswood
Office.
Mayor Ruddock said Link
Wentworth’s contribution to
community life is appreciated
by the people of Hornsby.
“This is an extraordinary collaborative
effort for which I say
on behalf of all the citizens of
Hornsby is much appreciated,”
he said
“I thank Link Wentworth for
their generosity as they have
now given over half a million
dollars to assist residents taking
up opportunities that would not
otherwise be available to them.”
Link Wentworth is one of the
largest community housing
providers in Australia, managing
approximately 6,400 homes
with around 10,000 residents
and 200 staff.
It is committed to providing
homes for the most vulnerable
in the community and will host
a live stream event called The
Big Housing Debate on April 21
with a distinguished line up of
speakers.
