SARAH
FLETCHER
With more than 20 years’ experience
in the beauty therapy industry, Sarah
Fletcher has weathered many storms
and changes. It’s fair to say that the
last two Covid-affected years have
been among the most challenging
– and as well as guiding her own
business through the storm, she is
also committed to supporting and
encouraging others.
As the Waikato area representative
for the NZ Association of Registered
Beauty Professionals, and owner of her
home-based salon Skin Craft Beauty
Therapy in Hamilton; Sarah is highly
attuned to what’s happening within the
industry in her local area. This sense of
community and support from others
in the same boat is a source of mental
resilience for all involved.
Having originally trained as a dental
assistant in her early 20’s, Sarah
pursued training as a beauty therapist
with the goal of having her own
business. Her dedication to the industry
has never wavered and she takes great
pride in helping mentor and guide those
new to the field.
Sarah launched her own business
Natural Beauty in 2000, before selling it
in late 2003 to raise her young family.
She also refocused on her love of
teaching, which she has done for
more than 12 years now, along with
contracting to City and Guilds as an
external verifier for their beauty therapy
diplomas. Sarah is also an industry
assessor for HITO.
Skin Craft Beauty Therapy, which Sarah
launched in 2020, specialises in giving
every client a relaxing and professional
experience.
“Something I’ve always passed on to
my students, and now the apprentices,
is to never to forget the importance of
the customer and their time. A lot of
women have busy demanding lives, and
the time they carve out for their beauty
care is precious and valued, and it’s a
privilege to be part of that.”
Sarah offers a range of professional
treatments including waxing, Medik8
skin treatments, dermal needling,
lash and brow treatments, lash lift,
dermaplaning and massage.
Q. What products/treatments are
you loving right now and why:
A. I am loving the results from
Dermal Needling and also the
lovely finish the Dermaplanning
treatment delivers. Medik8
Hydr8 B5 is one of my favourites
and also a huge favourite with
my clients. It is a fabulous
hyaluronic acid product that
delivers. RevitaLash and
RevitaBrow are delivering some
wonderful results. And there are
many more favourites…
Q. Greatest business/personal
challenge over the last two
years:
A. Starting a full-time homebased
clinic right before the
first lockdown in 2020 would
easily be the biggest challenge
- then building up from there
and through one more level 4
lockdown and a very long level 3
Q. Most valuable personal/
business lesson learned over
the last two years:
A. Loads of patience has been
something I have had to learn to
practice. Thinking outside the
square a lot more. Slowly but
surely, it has begun to pay off.
Q. Your go-to make up
look & products:
A. My go-to product is RevitaLash
mascara with primer. Fantastic
finish, lasts all day with out
starting to run, and it is easily
removed. I also love my Medik8
Hydr8 B5 as well as Medik8
c-tetra serum.
Q. Your must-have
everyday products:
A. Medik8 c-tetra serum, Vitamin A
and sunscreen
