InnoTrans extends its success

YouCity Innovation Contest
This year‘s InnoTrans enthralled its
visi tors, not just with innovations
in the area of public transport and
long-distance rail travel. For the second
time, the Munich-based innovation
agency HYVE was on site to present
the awards to the winners of its
Bombardier YouCity Innovation Contest.
The theme was “Shape the future
of urban mobility“, and 858 members
and teens presented their visions
of innovative mobility in an urban
environment.
The Contest produced an impressive
215-quality entries from users in 129
countries. The online competition was,
however, aimed not just at designers,
but also at urban planners, engineers
and business graduates. What they
were asked to do was to form crossborder
teams in order to develop their
proposals in two stages. The three winning
teams were invited to come to Berlin
to attend the four-day YouCity Innovation
Camp, in order to develop a
mobility concept for the Brazilian city of
Belo Horizonte. Afterwards, the results
of the workshop were presented at
InnoTrans on 20 September 2012 in
