• Approx. 12 persons have been <strong>in</strong>terviewed by HKCIC out of more than e.g. 2000<br />

persons work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> one factory. The <strong>in</strong>terviews were made outside the factory without<br />

any proof or access to documentation.<br />

• A factory audit made by TOP-TOY takes two full days for one factory. We <strong>in</strong>terview<br />

about the same number of persons, <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong> addition we do verify all <strong>in</strong>formation by<br />

cross check of documents (<strong>in</strong>cl. Payroll, employment contracts, <strong>in</strong>surance) besides<br />

<strong>in</strong>spect<strong>in</strong>g the work<strong>in</strong>g conditions.<br />

The <strong>in</strong>terviews are an important part of TOP-TOY’s audits. However, the report does not<br />

mention how the other companies perform their factory audits?<br />

The work<strong>in</strong>g hours is a general problem, but your conclusion that some factories are break<strong>in</strong>g<br />

the law is made without know<strong>in</strong>g if the factory has a special permission from the local labour<br />

department to exceed the normal overtime dur<strong>in</strong>g a limited peak season. The workers may not<br />

be aware of this permission, but this is part of the material we collect <strong>and</strong> check dur<strong>in</strong>g TOP-<br />

TOY’s factory audit <strong>in</strong>side the factory.<br />

We appreciate the work done by the team beh<strong>in</strong>d this report, <strong>and</strong> will use the <strong>in</strong>put <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>formation to improve the way TOP-TOY is work<strong>in</strong>g with our social responsibility.<br />
