Sportways – Hong Kong Hockey Camp 2018
When the Sportways team came back to Hong Kong in April
there was a wonderful quote that immediately came to mind…
or at least the part that matters most… “form is temporary, class is
permanent”.
Thomas Tichelman (Founder), Maarten Stenvers and Kyle Marks,
the dynamic Sportways coaching trio, arrived Sunday 8th April for a
week of master coaching at the Hong Kong Football Club. The fortunate
kids lucky enough not to be back at school that week were once again
treated to a fun-filled, technically challenging, highly stimulating week
of hockey. From 9am to 5pm kids aged 8-13 were put through their
paces. Be they watching the volunteer Coaches conduct their high flying
demo’s, taking on the technical skills, or enjoying the social team building
games and activities, every participant was engaged throughout the
week, and had a thoroughly thrilling week.
With all ages mixed into different social
groups, tournament teams and coaching
groups, the children became an increasingly
integrated and bonded group throughout the
week. As with all Sportways Camps, the Sportways HK experience
offered more than just an opportunity to up-skill. Whether it was taking
the group off-site to the Khalsa Diwan Sikh Temple for a shared lunch,
introducing them to new social games and experiences, or simply being
coached by coaches from Holland, South Africa, Japan, England, Hong
Kong, India and Pakistan, the Hong Kong camp offered a unique and
enriching experience for all. We can’t wait for the team to return in 2019.
