Happy New Year!
As we herald in the new year,
we look forward to a year full of
life and excitement.
New seasons bring hope for
renewal and in turn, a new year
brings hope for a better year than
the last.
In his famous poem “Auld
Lang Syne,” Robert Burns writes
that love and friendship from long
ago is to be cherished and to this
day is used as a symbol for
endings and new beginnings. We
are fortunate that we can
experience this love and
friendship on a day-to-day basis at
Belmont Village.
Personally, I am very excited
about the coming year and the
new and existing relationships
that will be forged. I am excited
about the new programs that we
will be introducing in the coming
year, but most importantly, I am
excited to be able to do life
together with our residents,
families and staff.
January 2011
I’d like to recognize the
outpouring of generosity from our
residents and family. In this time
of economic hardship, the
contributions to our employee
holiday fund exceeded our
expectations! So please know that
we are very appreciative and
grateful. On behalf of all our
Belmont Village employees,
Thank You!
Should old acquaintance be
forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne, we’ll take a cup of
kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint
cup!
and surely I’ll buy mine!
And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine;
But we’ve wandered many a weary
foot, since auld lang syne.
We two have paddled in the
stream,
from morning sun till dine;
But seas between us broad have
roared since auld lang syne.
And there’s a hand my trusty
friend!
And give us a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll take a right good-will
draught, for auld lang syne.

Meeting
Friday,
Jan. 7,
at 10:30 a.m.
in the Town Hall
It’s a brand-new year — and we’re looking forward to spending it with you!
Circle of Friends
Circle of Friends visited The
California Science Center in Los
Angeles. We experienced an
amazing show and learned a lot
about our body. We had a chance
to touch a real Human Brain. The
brain was hard and rubbery.
The best part of our trip was
the giant Elephant Heart. The
heart of an elephant weighs
between 40 and 60 pounds. It
beats about 30 times a minute.
The weight of an average human
male heart is 10-12 ounces. Heart
of a female is 8-10 ounces.
from your friendly staff.
We got a chance to learn about
the human intestine. Did you
know, the large intestine takes
about 32 hours to finish up the
remaining processes of the
digestive system. The length of the
large intestine is about 1.5 meters
long, about 5 feet. The small
intestine is approximately 20 feet
long in a human over the age of 5.
Please join us at our next
adventure with Circle of Friends in
January. We have a few amazing
locations to visit.
Belmont Village’s
MBA Club is now available!
The Club offers a fun,
interactive way to meet your
personal, mental and physical
fitness goals through mind/body
awareness (MBA).
Recent studies have indicated
that a combination of specially
designed activities that engage
mind, body and spirit contribute
to a healthy brain and overall
well-being. This is the
foundation of our MBA Club.
To learn more about the
MBA Club
and how you can join,
