The 2nd Annual Belmont Village 

Toy Drive for Operation 

Homefront is continuing until 

Friday, Dec. 14. Please join us by 

helping military families in need 

during the holidays. Last year we 

were told by several families that 

if it wasn’t for our Toy Drive, their 

children wouldn’t have had a 

Christmas. We are proud and 

grateful to be able to help Illinois 

military families. Please donate 

new and unwrapped toys, ages 

infant to 12 years old. Gift cards 

to stores and iTunes cards are also 

appreciated.

It’s December and the Neighborhood will be 

getting ready for the holidays. Come to 

The Family Caroling and Cookies Party 

on Sunday, Dec. 16, 

from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. 

Please join us for this fun holiday time. 

We will go out a Scenic Light Tour on Monday, 

Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. and our regular Scenic Drives 

on Sunday afternoons. 

We indulged in the German cuisine 

at Schnitzel Platz! 

Families and friends were invited to 

our Oktoberfest meal and 

entertainment.

Legends of Christmas 

A festive program where the 

legends and customs of the season 

come to life. Learn everything 

from why we kiss under the 

mistletoe, eat striped, cane shaped 

candy and believe in a jolly old elf 

called Santa Claus. There will be 

traditional carols to sing, 

including the history of their 

origins.

Goes to Washington’ 

Bright, optimistic Jefferson Smith 

(Jimmy Stewart) is honored with 

the opportunity to serve in the 

U.S. Senate. At first overwhelmed, 

Smith seeks the assistance of his 

chief of staff, Clarissa Saunders 

(Jean Arthur), and fellow Sen. 

Joseph Paine (Claude Rains). 

Together, they craft a piece of 

legislation that runs counter to 

what corrupt political boss Jim 

Taylor has in mind, and Smith 

doesn’t know Paine has been 

working with the Taylor political 

machine. Paine sets out to destroy 

Smith’s reputation, and the young 

senator launches an emotional 

filibuster on the Senate floor to 

prove his innocence. This 1939 

Frank Capra film is a classic.
