THE once-quiet hamlet of
Lincoln is poised to become
a busy mini-metropolis.
Hearings panel Commissoner
David Caldwell has
recommended the district
council gives the thumbs-up
to the huge Lincoln South
1700-home residential development
(page 1).
Many in Lincoln were
against it, saying the town is
getting too big too quickly
and infrastructure to
support the growth won’t
keep up.
But Caldwell believes
the developers, the Carter
Group, which also wants
to develop big blocks of
housing in other parts of
the district, has adequately
news
Competitors flock to duck call contest
Contestants managed a good mimic when the Lincoln University
Hunting Club held its annual duck calling competition last week, prior
to start of the 2022 duck hunting season on Saturday.
answered those concerns.
District councillors will
now vote on Caldwell’s
recommendation.
Time will tell whether
their decision becomes a
factor in how votes are cast
at the local body elections in
October.
