A
new form of leadership
is desperately
needed around the
globe now. Two facts
emerged in the midst of 2020’s
struggles. Now, as technology
continues to revolutionize
sectors and people’s lives,
more organizations than ever
before are embracing the
idea that every company is
a technology business, and
they’ve set off a new period of
exponential development. In
order to create a brighter future
in the wake of the pandemic,
utilities are embracing change.
It’s not easy to adapt to
change, but it’s unavoidable.
It’s possible that someone
else will take the lead if utilities
don’t do their part. A new
leadership team must create
a new inventive, connected,
and digitally savvy workplace.
It has to shed its decadesold,
risk-averse, asset-based
engineering mentality. When
the time is right, industry
leaders will become Change
Experts who can help bring
about this much-needed shift.
The utility industry’s attitude
to technology adoption will
undergo a drastic shift as a
result of this new perspective.
In the history of the utility

But there’s no mistaking it: the
CIO or CTO alone can’t turn
the company into a technology

supported by the whole C-suite
and implemented across the
company as a whole.
First, it’s important to recognize

businesses should be on board
as well. Embrace the new.

CBK Hardware Advocates an Ecofriendly
Solution, Dyson Hand
Dryers
CBK Hardware promotes eco-friendliness this World Environment Month with its Dyson Airblade
hand dryer offerings. Learn more about these products here.
June is World Environment Month, and as CBK Hardware advocates eco-friendly building
design and construction, it promotes its Dyson Airblade hand dryer offerings.
Today, architects and engineers are mindful that building construction significantly impacts
the environment. Their building activities can harm their surroundings, contributing to the
longstanding global issue of climate change.
Therefore, contemporary building and design professionals advance sustainable and
environment-friendly or “green” design for commercial structures like office buildings,
hospitals, restaurants, and shopping malls.
But there is one aspect of the building premises that harms the environment, that is the use
of toilet papers. Imagine all restaurants, hotels, and office buildings are using toilet papers
and it causes damaged due to the waste that it produces every year.
Manila, Philippines-based home and office equipment solutions provider CBK Hardware
offers Dyson Airblade Hand Dryer models and wants to remind its customers about these
solutions this World Environment Month.
How toilet paper waste hurts the environment
So next time you’re reaching for a roll of toilet paper, think about how your choice affects the
planet.
5 REASONS WHY DYSON HAND DRYERS ARE RECOMMENDED
Paper towels have been used in bathrooms since the early 1900s. These hand hygiene
materials allow fast drying of hands
Moreover, paper towels prevent the spread of harmful bacteria, with people using them to
completely dry and clean their hands after washing them with soap and water.
Nonetheless, paper towels’ use has resulted in questions about their human hygiene effects,
cost, and safety for the environment over the years.
Researchers discovered that using paper towels as hand-drying materials can create hygiene
problems beyond the restroom since dispensers may be found empty, leaving no way to dry
hands.
This moment can lead to bacteria and virus dissemination from wet hands. Additionally,
buying paper towels can be expensive for businesses’ operations as it adds to the costs.
Researchers discovered these hand-drying materials are hazardous to the environment.
After all, most used paper towels are not recycled. This scenario creates waste, and the
hand-drying materials discarded often goes into landfill.
Dyson is a multinational technology company that has manufactured household appliances
since 1991. Its engineers ended undesirable 20th-Century hand hygiene practices by putting
inferior-performing hand-drying techniques like paper towels to rest in 2006. That year is
when Dyson engineers introduced the Airblade technology.
Here are some of the Dyson Products that may be suitable for your building or establishments:
Did you know that the average person uses about 100 sheets of toilet paper per day? Multiply
that by the number of people in the world, and you get a lot of wasted TP. But what might
surprise you is that toilet paper waste isn’t just an inconvenience; it’s actually harming the
environment. The truth is that toilet paper waste can take a toll on the environment for a few
reasons. For one, it takes up a lot of space in landfills. In addition, the process of making toilet
paper – from cutting down trees to producing the final product – creates greenhouse gases
that contribute to climate change.
How to reduce the environmental impact of toilet paper
CBK Hardware has the solution to lessen the environmental impact of toilet paper waste by
using Dyson Airblade. Dyson Airblade is a great alternative to dry your hands while protecting
the environment.

FEATURE STORY
The latter is an international group that provides solutions to the global climate change
crisis and supports organizations worldwide as they accelerate towards Net Zero or zero
greenhouse gas emissions.
On the other hand, paper towels constantly need to be produced and transported to
consumers. They require energy with every use for their production, transportation, and
disposal.
Paper towels also cause extra maintenance through blockages and mess. As environmentally
harmful waste, they eventually take up space in landfills.
B) HYGIENIC
Besides caring for the environment by supporting buildings’ eco-friendly or “green” design and
construction, the Dyson Airblade hand dryers promote proper hand hygiene.
Makers of these solutions understand that damp hands can spread up to 1,000 times more
bacteria than dry hands.
Moreover, they are mindful that viruses and bacteria deposited by human hands onto surfaces
can survive for several hours and are transferrable when others touch these contaminated
surfaces.
Thus, the Dyson Airblade hand dryers were designed to have HEPA filters installed as
standard. This advantage captures 99.95 percent of particles, including bacteria and viruses.
The HEPA filters also facilitate drying hands with clean and unpolluted air.
C) STATE-OF-THE-ART
The Dyson Airblade hand dryers feature touch-free operation and are sophisticated. The
Dyson digital motor V4 is powerful and compact, utilizing digital pulse technology.
Meanwhile, other brands use conventional motors that are sluggish and can be inefficient as
they depend on old-fashioned carbon brushes that wear out over time.
D) COST-EFFECTIVE
Building owners and entrepreneurs usually prefer low-cost but high-quality hand-drying equipment.
Furthermore, they want these machines to be affordable to maintain and last for a long time.
The Dyson Airblade hand dryers are reasonably priced and facilitate more significant savings
for buyers. Furthermore, users can relish up to 99 percent less cost than running paper towels.
The Dyson Airblade hand dryers are engineered to last. Developers of these hand hygiene
solutions expose these technologies to real-life environments to make sure they can withstand
high usage pressure.
E) TIME-SAVING
High-traffic environments were the prime consideration of the Dyson hand dryers’ developers
when they engineered these machines.
Employees, customers, and other people going to these places can relish the exclusive Dyson
technology that enhances entrepreneurs’ business environments, making them safe for people
and the environment.
Users can also save more of their precious time. After all, the Dyson hand dryers like the Dyson
Airblade V, Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry, and Dyson Airblade 9kJ take as fast as 10 to 14 seconds
in completely drying hands.
They are hygienically drying hands in buildings that house offices and commercial establishments
are as important as washing them.
Using the eco-friendly Dyson Airblade hand dryers versus paper towels to fully dry hands certainly
benefits people and the environment.
This World Environment Month, CBK Hardware recommends these eco-friendly, hygienic, stateof-the-art,
cost-effective, and time-saving hand-drying machines to building developers and
business owners because they promote their stakeholders’ overall well-being.

Over the last decade, there has been a substantial
change in the energy market. This disruption was
exacerbated by the outbreak. Utilities were compelled
to invest in new technology to facilitate remote working
and the safety of field workers. As a result, governments have
stepped up their efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Over the
next ten years, this disruption is expected to grow as the energy
transition intensifies.

COOLING TOWERS
Scaling, corrosion and microbiological proliferation can greatly reduce a cooling tower's ability to exchange
heat and, as a consequence, the efficiency of any machinery connected to it. Poor cooling tower efficiency
greatly impacts a company's bottom line, making it important to choose the right preventive treatment.
ZEP offers a holistic, high ROI solution geared to optimizing cooling tower performance.

sustainable electricity, the electric grid, the world’s most
complicated machine, must be made significantly more
adaptable and robust. One of the biggest impacts has come
as a result of the continuous digitization of various assets,
processes, and goods.
In Europe and the United States, renewable energy sources
currently make up more than 20% of total power generation.
However, this is only the commencement of our journey.
Renewables are predicted to account for 33% of total power
output by 2025, overtaking coal-fired generation. Until
2025, 95% of the net growth in global power capacity will
be covered by renewable energy sources alone. In order to
capture new possibilities, the industry is going to turn to its
leaders to lead the way in bringing about change.
The electrical value chain will be reshaped by new
competitive pressures in the future. This is due to the fact that
utilities aren’t the only ones looking for these kinds of fresh
chances. Investments in renewables and energy storage
by big oil companies are expected to rise. Increasingly,
telecoms will package their electricity with other services in
deregulated areas. There will be a new generation of startups
with Amazon-like customer-centric business models that
challenge incumbents.
To tackle the areas in which utilities have faltered, new
leadership is required. A new age of change and leadership
will be powered by the lessons learned from catastrophic
weather events and the pandemic.
The complexity of the energy mix, network management,
and energy markets necessitates new techniques to provide
long-term, low-cost, and dependable electricity. Utilities will

be made accountable by customers who want them to provide dependable and safe energy
supply while also bringing innovative goods to the market more quickly.
An example of this proactive desire to change may be seen in the work of Ørsted. One of the
world’s most sustainable firms, it exited its oil and gas operations less than five years ago.
Change is about to happen.
The needs of various markets and segments vary depending on where you are in the value
chain. A transmission operator or a vertically integrated, regulated utility has distinct obstacles
than a retailer in a deregulated market. However, one thing is constant: change is inevitable.
Regardless of their differences, all utilities and energy suppliers confront a more complicated,
fast-changing, and unpredictable future. In order to not just survive, but thrive in the face of
this unpredictability, the industry will turn to its leaders for guidance.
A new approach is needed, and utilities that are leading the way accomplish just that. They are
always innovating to stay ahead of the curve in the energy sector. New company models are
being devised to satisfy the changing demands of the clients they serve. For instance, Enel has
created Enel X, which has a distinct tech profile, a stand-alone brand, and a greater emphasis
on mission. As a result, Exelon is separating its power generating and retail operations from its
regulated utility assets. Also as part of its efforts to create the most advanced two-way energy
market in the world, Australian market operator AEMO has created a DER register.
However, innovation isn’t only confined to one company’s efforts. In the future, teamwork
will be essential. From Washington, DC to Maine, the US’ northeast region will be one of
the world’s major markets for electric vehicles. With the help of Electrify America and state
governors, utilities are working together to build a charging infrastructure that can support this
new industry.
A number of utility executives must do the same and take advantage of the chance. Customers,
regulators, and a wide range of energy providers will all work together to develop new markets
and new value in this energy revolution. Services behind the meter, renewable energy, and
electric car charging will no longer be the exclusive domain of utilities. The moment to act is
now as the energy transformation accelerates. When it comes to achieving net-zero, utilities
have a unique opportunity to lead and take a more significant role in the process by rethinking
their operations with technology at the heart.

some cases.
You are Constantly Thinking
About the Future
If you want to be part of something that will
change the world then engineering is uniquely
poised to do just that. Engineering is all about
creativity and common sense skills anyone
can learn with some hard work.
If the idea of being on the cutting edge of
technology and helping to create things that will
enhance or better the lives of people appeals
to you, then engineering is your calling.
The engineers who build the next generation
of robots are often inspired by nature.
These scientists borrow ideas from animals
to design machines that can walk, swim,
and fly-just like their natural counterparts! If
you’re interested in robotics or biology, then
engineering might be your calling.
You Love Math and Physics
If your favorite classes in school were physics
or maths then you may love being an engineer.
These subjects are the most closely related
to engineering and they’re also among the
hardest to master.
That’s because they teach skills that apply
directly to solving real-world problems. But
even if you don’t remember your high school
science textbook too well (or at all), there is no
reason not to give an engineering career a try!
Success as an engineer depends on
understanding concepts rather than
memorizing formulas. So if your favorite
subject was math or physics, then you’re
already partway to becoming an engineer.
However, even beyond a love of physics and
math if you enjoy finding how machinery such
as a swing jib crane, forklift, or even bulldozers
work then you have the mind of an engineer.
Start Your Career
If you have been thinking that you have what it
takes to be an engineer but you are not entirely
certain then you should carefully consider the
tips that have been given here. If you find
that you are in fact interested in engineering
then talk with a career coach or those who are
already in the field to find out more about this
exciting career.
If you are interested in design, math, or
science, then engineering is a great career
path to take. Engineering involves using
the principles of these subjects to solve
problems for people everywhere.
The field of engineering has many sub-fields
that are geared towards different styles and
levels of education. Becoming an engineer
requires dedication and hard work but it can
be very rewarding! Here are some signs
that might indicate you should become an
engineer.
You are Analytical
An engineer is responsible for the safe
operation of many critical physical structures.
Engineers need to be able to work on their
own, but also as part of a team. Engineers are
often asked to solve problems that don’t have
an obvious solution.
They must come up with creative solutions
using limited resources and timeframes. A
typical day for an engineer can be very different

Facilities Management
Market Value to Hit $2
Global Facilities Management Market
revenue is expected to cross USD
$2 trillion by 2025, according to
a new research report. The rising
investments in smart city projects across the
world have led to the growing demand for
facilities management services.
The increase in investments in the real estate
and construction industry across the globe is
supporting the market growth. For instance,
in 2017, the Canadian government issued
additional funding of USD $81.2 billion across five
Trillion
priority infrastructure streams, including public
transit, trade, green, social, and transportation.
The government is taking initiatives to develop
rural and northern communities’ infrastructure
through the ‘Investing in Canada’ plan to build
advanced economic cities. With the increase
in the number of construction projects, the
demand for various facility management
services including construction, maintenance,
operation, electric and mechanical works, and
post-construction services, such as building
cleaning and maintenance is also increasing
across the world.
Some of the major findings of the
Facilities Management Market
report include:
- The growing tourism and hospitality industry
has led to the rising demand for FM services
across hotels, restaurants and entertainment
centers
- The proliferation in smart city development
projects in Asia-Pacific and the MEA is
expected to drive market growth
- The demand for facility management
services, such as construction, operation, and
maintenance, is increasing due to the growing
number of construction projects undertaken
by government departments
- The growing industrialization will enable
manufacturing companies to outsource the
management of their facilities to enhance their
focus on core competencies
- Some of the major companies operating in
the market are CA Technologies, CB Richard
Ellis (CBRE), Aramark, Colliers International,
EMCOR Group, Inc., and G4S plc
- Stringent regulations and high scrutiny have
enabled enterprises to outsource and deploy
technology solutions that can optimize their
facilities management
The slow adoption of outsourced FM services
can restrict market growth, as enterprises
are inclined toward the use of in-house
management staff. The in-house facilities
management team may lack the required
skill set and training required for performing
specific operations, which may result in an
inefficient approach toward the management
of valuable assets of the organization.
The outsourced services segment of the
facilities management market is expected
to grow at a significant growth rate over
the forecast period due to the emphasis of
growing enterprises on focusing on their
core competencies to gain a competitive
advantage. The rising competition across all
business sectors is enabling organizations to
outsource their non-core business operations
to third-party service providers. Outsourcing
the facilities management services helps in
managing the day-to-day operations of the
facility by skilled and well-trained labor. It
also helps businesses to reduce the overall
operational cost, as they do not need to recruit
and train their in-house staff for managing the
facility operations.
The hard service segment is expected to hold
a major share by 2025 due to the development
of smart homes and offices. These smart
homes and offices include different physical
assets such as electrical and mechanical
equipment, elevators, fire safety systems and
HVAC systems. Such systems require frequent
maintenance to support their uninterrupted
operations. The hard FM service providers
have skilled labor to manage these services
without affecting the core operations of any
business.
The growing tourism industry in the U.S.
is supporting the demand for facilities
management services in North America.
For instance, according to the International
Trade Administration (ITA), the U.S. travel
and tourism industry generated an economic
output of more than USD $1.6 trillion in 2017.
The increase in the number of tourists has
led to the adoption of facility management
services across airports, shopping malls,
large food centers and amusement parks.
The major companies operating in the facilities
management market are focusing on securing
government contracts for FM services to
enhance their profitability. In February 2019,
Madrid City Government signed a fouryear
contract worth USD $18.62 million with
ACCIONA, the facility management company,
to enhance energy efficiency in 400 municipal
buildings including schools, sports centers,
offices, social, and cultural centers.

Utilities Find Data at the
Center of Operations,
Launching the Grid Analytics
Market to $2.31 Billion
Predictive and prescriptive analytics to find higher application with the rise
of 5G, finds Frost & Sullivan
As data becomes central to new
business models in the energy utility
sector, the global grid analytics
market is expected to accelerate from
$1.15 billion in 2018 to $2.31 billion in 2025,
at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of
10.4%. Energy utilities are generating massive
volumes of data from smart meters, intelligent
energy devices, and multi-sensing units but
only 2% to 4% of data from the system is
actually leveraged for analytics. This data,
combined with a sophisticated analytics
platform, can deliver valuable insights for
utilities that can lead to improved customer
service and operational metrics.
“The market will gradually switch to predictive
and prescriptive analytics, especially as
networks with low latency capabilities, such
as 5G, are employed to minimize reaction
times,” said Farah Saeed, Research Director,
Energy & Environment at Frost & Sullivan.
“Predictive and prescriptive analytics will
incorporate statistical models that flag areas
of inefficiency, evaluate and predict events
in a timely manner, and eventually include
Artificial Intelligence (AI) to deliver a holistic
decision-making tool.”
Frost & Sullivan’s recent analysis, Global
Smart Grid Analytics Market, Forecast to
2025, provides an in-depth analysis of key
applications and opportunities in the market.
This study segments data analytics into three
main areas of the grid network: transmission
and distribution (T&D) network, metering, and
customer analytics. It covers the regions of
North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Rest
of the World.
For further information on this
analysis, please visit: http://

“North America is currently the largest market
for grid analytics but Asia is expected to
register the fastest CAGR of 13.3% between
2018 and 2025. The emphasis is on improving
energy access and minimizing financial
losses including non-technical losses. India
and China, in particular, have been leading
the way when it comes to utility-scale
renewable energy (RE) sources. “ noted
Saeed. “Meanwhile, Australia and Singapore
are looking to minimize power interruption by
integrating geographic information system
data analytics and forecast events, and
Japan would be an ideal market for customer
analytics as it is attempting to achieve 100%
smart meter penetration by 2024.”
In the future, the areas with the
greatest growth opportunities
will include:
- Service outcome-based business models
instead of just power generation and
transmission.
- Internet of Things (IoT) devices and sensors
that track and transmit data from and to the
grid. IoT infrastructure spending by utilities is
forecast to reach more than $2 billion by 2024,
growing at a CAGR of 20.5%.
- RE and electric vehicles. Utilities in Europe
and North America are beginning to leverage
these resources as baseload and back-up
capacity.
- Initiatives to strengthen the grid to minimize
outage times, streamline billing operations,
provide real-time energy information, and
deliver new and relevant services.

The Ecological
Significance Of
Being eco friendly and sustainable
is all about using natural resources
in a wise way. Selecting renewable
materials instead of diminishing
resources is one of the top priorities on
the global agenda for combating climate
change.
Biomass is one of those inexhaustible and
renewable resources that are omnipresent
throughout the world. It basically uses the
energy stored in plants and organic matter
throughout their lifecycle, transforms it
into usable energy and literally helps the
world by eliminating waste while being
productive. As long as we have access
to this renewable source, we have a way
to generate energy that would ensure us
a sustainable future.
Biomass
processes, transportation, and daily use.
Since the Industrial Revolution, we are on
the way to absolute exhaustion of these
non-renewable resources. The burning of
fossil fuels, which have been trapped in
the earth’s crust for hundreds of millions of
years, releases greenhouse gases such
as carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Fortunately, the latest technologies can
convert biomass into energy. We have
found ways to maximize their potential,
and as a result, the entire energy needs
of humanity could be met by biomass.
Therefore, the willingness to move
away from the currently declining nonrenewable
energy sources, such as
fossil fuels, is a question of commitment.
However, it is very important to ensure
sustainable forestry, to control harvesting
so as not to disturb the fuel/food balance,
and to make use of biomass waste as a
renewable energy source.
Biomass is considered a
renewable energy source.
Biomass is the biological source of energy.
It includes wood and waste from wood
processing, agricultural crops and waste
products, food waste, animal manure,
and human sewage. Forest biomass -
also known as woody biomass is wood
and wood waste. Woody biomass is the
most commonly used type of biomass for
energy production. Instead of going to
landfills, wood waste can be used as fuel.
The energy released during the
combustion of biomass can be converted
into heat or electricity. Industrial Boilers
America is one such company that offers
solutions for biomass heating systems
that use alternative energy sources such
as corn husks, bagasse, palm fibers,
wood or other waste. The use of biomass
in heating systems is used in
For thousands of years, people have used
biomass as a source of energy. In 1770, all
U.S. energy came from a single renewable
source, wood. And in 2018, only 8% of
total energy consumption came from
renewable resources. According to the
International Renewable Energy Agency,
solid biomass from forests, farms, and
cities as an energy source for heat and
power generation could account for a
fifth of the global energy consumption by
2050.
Biomass has considerable ecological
advantages. Below are the main
advantages of using biomass as a
renewable energy source.
Biomass reduces excessive
dependence on fossil fuels.

Biotechnology plays an important role in
this strategy by supporting innovation in
the use and implementation of biological
systems on an industrial scale.
The circular bio-economy depends
on maximizing the value of resources
indefinitely. In simple terms, this means
that no non-recyclable waste is produced.
In a circular economy, biomass is of
great importance for material products
and energy supply. The main challenges
are to provide abundant biomass for
bio-based products by giving priority to
other renewable energy sources and to
minimize and recycle waste generated
by food and agriculture.
Conclusion
The cultivation of biomass, if not carried
out in a sustainable way, can have negative
effects on biodiversity, carbon stocks,
and water and air quality. In addition,
biomass can also have social impacts, so
it is important to consider factors such as
working conditions in certain areas.
It is, therefore, crucial to cultivate biomass
to generate energy in a closed-loop
system based on circular bio-economy
practice and taking into account the social,
ecological and economic dimensions
equally. Biomass can reduce excessive
dependence on fossil fuels, helps to
eliminate the waste of our planet, and as
it is found everywhere, it can serve as a
great source of energy production.
many different types of buildings and
has different purposes. The company’s
solutions include cogeneration systems,
which are very useful for generating
power from wood waste, with the heat
being generated as a by-product of the
power generation system.
Biomass helps to eliminate the
waste of our planet.
The organic waste ends up damaging
ecosystems and has negative effects on
human health and instead, it could be used
to produce energy and other products.
Food waste affects the availability of
food for other people and is a waste of
natural resources. On the other hand, by
converting food remains into energy, we
eliminate waste from our environment.
Organic waste also includes non-edible
sources, including livestock manure,
agricultural and non-edible food waste. For
example, the decomposition of livestock
manure produces large amounts of
methane. To reduce methane emissions,
animal manure can be removed and
used to produce biogas, a renewable
energy source. Biogas is produced after
the decomposition of organic material in
a process called anaerobic digestion.
Biogas systems help to contain both
energy (gas) and valuable soil products
(liquids and solids).
Biomass promotes the shift
toward circular bio-economy.

3 Things Fast-
Growing Engineering
Companies Do Right
As businesses settle into a new
reality and make plans to refocus
their businesses, growing pains are
a real thing – we’ve all experienced
them in our personal lives, and they also
exist in the world of business. They are the
temporary challenges a business faces
when it enters a rapid growth period or
major restructure phase. While they are a
normal part of any expanding business, it’s
essential to keep an eye on your business’s
‘pain threshold’, to ensure that the temporary
challenges don’t become permanent ones.
Increased revenue, optimized costs,
maturity, and new opportunities are all
synonymous with growth, but these are
usually linked with new risks and trials, from
both internal and external market forces.
By planning ahead, you can navigate these
challenges with relative ease.
Here are three things that successful
businesses need to do well to remain
sustainable and manage growth:
1. Engineering companies must
manage their finances
In running a profitable and sustainable
engineering companies today, it is a given
that you need to spend money to make
money. In a growing business, extra cash
is crucial to keeping up with the increased
demands placed on daily operations. For
example, you might need to order more
stock, hire additional staff, or buy new
equipment. If you don’t keep a close eye
on these overheads, they can spiral out of
control, and place unnecessary strain on
cash flow.
A possible solution is to take out financing
– like a working capital loan or Peer-to-Peer
lending platforms – to cover immediate
expenses. You’ll need to keep a tight handle
on your spending though, as it is quite
possible to be blindsided by fixed costs –
some of which aren’t sometimes really fixed
if analyzed properly. It’s important to know
that banks and other financial institutions
consider fast-growing small businesses
risky ventures. Manage your finances well
and honour your debt repayments. It will
reflect positively on your record when you
need additional financing.
Taking out a loan is not your only option.
You can also consider solutions such as
negotiating better payment terms and
discounts with suppliers, outsourcing,
converting unused assets into cash, leasing
assets instead of buying, and restructuring
your debt. The main financial goal is
always to maximise business value. Look
beyond organic growth and find strategic
partners who can help you achieve greater
operational efficiency and maximise gains
at scale.
2. Engineering companies must
manage their people and culture
Having a culture that promotes collaboration
for engineering companies, open
communication, flexibility and engagement
will help keep employees motivated, which,
in turn, ensures a positive impact on their
productivity and creativity. Culture, people,
and environment are intricately linked and
are vital to overcoming growing pains.
As engineering companies business
grows, change is inevitable. It is crucial to
effectively manage this change because
it will impact your employees, and they
ultimately influence the success of your
business. Teams need to be guided and
supported through this change. Otherwise,
they could feel overwhelmed and pressured,
which may lead to internal friction and poor
customer service. Planning for internal
challenges is key to managing your people
effectively.
As part of this priority, give your people the
opportunities to develop their skills, provide
them with adequate training in line with
business growth, and ensure your team has
the best tools for the job. Setting strategic
goals will help guide your management

However, when your client base grows,
your accounting administration grows with
it. Switching to cloud-based accounting
software allows you to send invoices on
the fly, and automatically issue overdue
invoice reminders while also giving you a
real-time overview of finances. Having upto-date
access to finances means that you
can respond to issues as they arise or even
prevent them from occurring at all.
As a growing business, you need to
ensure that you have processes in place
for every possible aspect of your business
and automate these processes, wherever
possible. In accounting, processes include
using the right collection methods, outlining
clear payment terms, and automating
invoicing and quoting.
Change is the only constant
Businesses operate in continually changing
environments. People, competition, markets,
laws, and technology are continuously in
flux. When change takes place in one area,
it has a potential knock-on effect on all of
the others. Businesses should aim for agile
and aligned teams, sustainable growth that
is supported by strong governance, and
a clear, flexible strategy that confirms the
feasibility of the business model and sets
the stage for its growth and development.
team in identifying high-potential individuals
as well as likely skills gaps.
Important notes on people: if you need to
increase your workforce, make sure you
prioritise culture first and skills second
when hiring. While people can learn how to
do a better job, they cannot be taught how
to align with your value set and purpose.
Making a bad hire often results in reduced
job satisfaction across much of the business.
Outsourcing to a consultant or a freelancer
is often cheaper than hiring a full-time
resource. Also considering modern tools
like Robotic Process Automatic (RPA) help
optimal utilization of human resources. It
is especially applicable if you are unsure
of what your future business needs are, or
if you only require certain skills at specific
times.
3. Engineering companies must
manage their processes and
migrate to automation
Many small businesses don’t immediately
prioritise changing their systems and
processes as they grow, which often results
in inefficiencies and wasted money, time,
and resources. For example, when you
have a limited number of clients, manually
sending invoices and following up on
payments is manageable.

Flexible Working
for Industrial, Tech,
Construction Companies -
Will it Work?
conducted by Sage People, more than 80
per cent of 3,500 employees globally placed
importance and value on flexible and remote
working.
Respecting a work-life balance has become
increasingly important. Whether it is to meet
family needs, personal obligations or just
to avoid rush hour – it is clear that giving
employees increased control over their
work schedule enhances their happiness
and productivity, thereby making it good for
business. With that in mind, here are seven
reasons business leaders should consider
embracing the benefits of flexible working.
Furthermore, modern work responsibilities
are often cross-functional and need staff to
interact with more people in different time
zones and areas of expertise.
In this context, constraints on how, where,
and when we work should be updated to
reflect this cultural shift. Businesses must be
prepared to accept that the working world
has changed and adapt to new norms if they
want to remain relevant and truly motivate
and engage employees.
2. The war for brilliant talent in
tech & engineer is increasing
With top talent becoming more challenging
to attract and retain, many industries are
facing widespread skills shortages. It means
in-demand employees can be more selective
– and the desire for flexibility is a key factor
that influences their decision on future
workplaces. Hence, employers who offer
flexible working will attract the best talent and
are also more likely to retain these employees
for longer.
3. Flexible working boosts
productivity in manufacturing
and industrial sector
Workforce productivity has become a global
issue. Our research shows that employees
typically work only 30 hours a week, which
means there’s a whole day when they’re in the
office but not actually working. What’s more,
most people who work a 40-hour week feel
they are productive for only 3.75 days out of
the 5-day working week.
Revolutionising productivity in new ways, such
as giving employees the freedom to work in
the manner that best suits them, could go a
long way in narrowing the productivity gap
and enabling businesses to get the most out
of their staff.
The world of work as we know it has
changed. With new technology
making it easier to work anywhere,
anytime, the traditional 9 to 5 workday
for construction, utilities, energy, technology,
industrial and manufacturing is now effectively
dead, especially for the support department.
Flexibility in their work schedules is a key
priority for today’s employees, helping them
successfully juggle work and personal
responsibilities. In fact, according to a poll
1. The engineering world of
work has changed
The line between work life and home life
is more blurred than it was just a few years
ago. For example, it’s now routine for people
to demand employers facilitate virtual
meetings, work from home choices, and even
approve ‘duvet days’ when required, instead
of requiring them to commute through the
dreaded traffic every day.

staff to work together from opposite sides of
the globe.
4. Flexible working empowers
employees and shows you trust
them
Our research also found that employees want
to feel valued and recognised, with two-thirds
(66%) of those surveyed considering this the
most important aspect of their working life.
For many, this aspect is more vital than office
perks like games in the office or free food.
Giving employees the freedom to work in ways
that best suit them shows they are valued and
trusted members of the team.
It also empowers them to perform to a high
standard and be as productive as possible.
5. It supports employee wellbeing
to improve wellness at work, with initiatives
such as providing fresh fruit or offering a
subsidised gym membership proving popular.
As cities get more crowded and people are
obliged to multitask at home and work, flexible
working can play a crucial role in reducing
stress, making it something companies need
to pay more considerable attention to.
6. Employees want flexible
working
One of the most important reasons for
businesses to embrace the idea of flexi-work is
simply because it’s what staff want. According
to Fuze, nearly 50 per cent of employees
across all generations want to be more mobile
at work, with this number rising to 70 per cent
for those aged 16 to 44.
7. Technology has changed the
engineering sector
The most straightforward argument for
remote working is that employees simply no
longer need to be in the office to do their jobs
effectively.
Most employees in construction, engineering
and industrial sectors now have all the tools
they need on their smartphones and tablets,

Working to Develop Newest, More
Advanced Antiviral Therapies for
COVID-19 Treatments
(NASDAQ: TTOO), Sorrento Therapeutics,
Inc. (NASDAQ: SRNE), Moderna (NASDAQ:
MRNA).
The Research Dive report said: “In the previous
decades, the global antiviral therapies market
has experienced a significant growth owing
to increasing HIV prevalence as well as
rising viral infections in the forecast period.
In addition, the COVID-19 emergency period
has had a positive impact on the global
antiviral therapies market growth in 2020.
This growth is majorly owing to rising R&D
activities to find suitable antiviral drug for the
coronavirus treatment.
Furthermore, some of the manufacturers
are following various tactics such as new
technology introduction to gain a strong
position in the global market.
In recent years, the incorporation of
nanotechnology into antiviral drugs design
and development to manufacture innovative
and cost-effective drugs that will treat viral
infections has been on a rise. This factor is
predicted to generate huge opportunities for
the market growth in the coming years.
This growth is significantly owing to
nanotechnology being one of the mostly
capable technologies in the antiviral drugs
development because of its capability to
handle several viral infections effectively.”

The antivirals
market consists of sales of antiviral
drugs and related services. Antiviral
drugs reduce the replication of viruses
at different stages. Various type of
viral infections for which antiviral drugs are
used include HIV, herpes,
hepatitis and influenza viruses and, of
course, COVID-19. Millions of people across
the globe are affected by the CORONA /
COVID-19 virus. The pandemic has put
massive pressure on medicine safety
stocks. Healthcare providers are using every
possible tool to treat COVID-19.
It results in tremendous pressure on several
medicines especially antiviral drugs. Similarly,
the pressure on the system is substantially
growing with increased demand from
patients and governments for crucial drugs.
Scientists and researchers are relentlessly
working to develop additional investigational
antiviral compounds to treat COVID-19.
According to a new study conducted by

(b) antibodies, and (c) re-development of preexisting
drugs. Even as alarm bells were raised
by renowned scientists regarding the likelihood
of escape mutations and the limitations of any
vaccines and antibody therapies in combating
a rapidly evolving global viral pandemic, there
has been an effort to downplay these risks at
all levels.
This has left the world now grappling with a
situation where vaccines are being rolled
out even as virus variants that are highly
likely to be resistant to current vaccines and
antibody drugs have already been found to be
spreading rapidly. Current vaccines are now
assumed to require constant updates and reinoculation
campaigns to keep up with ongoing
changes in the virus. Attention needs to be
focused instead on broad-spectrum antiviral
therapeutics that minimize the possibility of
virus variants escaping the drug, thereby
making the costly ongoing development of
vaccine updates, their deployment and reinoculation
campaigns unnecessary.
NanoViricides believes it is very likely the
only company with a platform technology
that enables development of drugs that
viruses would not escape. In fact, we have
successfully screened our COVID-19 drug
candidates to be able to protect cells against
infection by distinctly different coronaviruses.
This broad-spectrum drug development
approach was adopted to ensure that our
drug candidates should remain effective even
as future variants of SARS-CoV-2 evolve in the
field, as was already anticipated by us at that
time. Additionally, NanoViricides is the only
company that, to the best of our knowledge,
is developing antiviral treatments designed to
(a) directly attack the virus and disable it from
infecting human cells, and (b) simultaneously
block the reproduction of the virus that has
already gone inside a cell.
Together, this strategy of a two-pronged attack
against the virus, both inside the cell and
outside the cell, can be expected to result in
a cure for coronaviruses and other viruses that
do not become latent.
The Company’s nanoviricides® platform
technology is based on biomimetic engineering
that copies the features of the human cellular
receptor of the virus. No matter how much the
virus mutates, all virus variants bind to the
same receptor in the same fashion.
It appears that the later variants of SARS-CoV-2
may have evolved to bind to the human cellular
receptor ACE2 more strongly, in general, based
on published datasets. Thus, if these features
of the cellular receptor are appropriately
copied, the resulting nanoviricide drug would
remain effective against current and future
variants of the virus.
Our current drug candidates to combat the
COVID-19 pandemic are designed to attack
not only SARS-CoV-2 and its current and future
variants, but also many other coronaviruses,
and will be useful even after the pandemic
is over, because several coronaviruses are
endemic in human populations.
Our COVID-19 drug candidates successfully
entered core safety pharmacology studies
required prior to any human clinical trials
around October/November, 2019. These
studies have now been completed and we are
anticipating the report from the external CRO
shortly. We are now working on preparing a
pre-IND application for filing with the US FDA
as soon as possible.
Additionally, we are actively seeking
opportunities to engage appropriate sites for
human clinical trials, and we are
engaged in the preparation of clinical trial
protocols and other activities that would be
necessary for filing of an IND with the US FDA.

Johnson & Johnson Announces
Data to Support Boosting its
Single-Shot COVID-19 Vaccine
Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine
booster, after single dose primary
regimen, provided rapid and robust
increase in spike-binding antibodies
New studies build on data demonstrating
strong durability through eight months after
immunization Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:
JNJ) (the Company) today announced data
supporting the use of its COVID-19 vaccine
as a booster shot for people previously
vaccinated with the single-shot Johnson &
Johnson vaccine.
In July, the Company reported interim Phase
1/2a data published in the New England
Journal of Medicine that demonstrated
neutralizing antibody responses generated
by the Johnson & Johnson single-shot
COVID-19 vaccine were strong and stable
through eight months after immunization.
In anticipation of the potential need for boosters,
the Company conducted two Phase 1/2a
studies in individuals previously vaccinated
with its single-shot vaccine.
New interim data from these studies demonstrate
that a booster dose of the Johnson & Johnson
COVID-19 vaccine generated a rapid and
robust increase in spike-binding antibodies,
nine-fold higher than 28 days after the primary
single-dose vaccination.
Significant increases in binding antibody
responses were observed in participants
between ages 18 and 55, and in those 65
years and older who received a lower booster
dose. The study summaries were submitted to
medRxiv on August 24.
“We have established that a single shot of
our COVID-19 vaccine generates strong and
robust immune responses that are durable
and persistent through eight months.
With these new data, we also see that a booster
dose of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19
vaccine further increases antibody responses
among study participants who had previously
received our vaccine,” said Mathai Mammen,
M.D., Ph.D., Global Head, Janssen Research
& Development, Johnson & Johnson.
“We look forward to discussing with public
health officials a potential strategy for our
Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine,
boosting eight months or longer after the
primary single-dose vaccination.”
The Company is engaging with the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),
European Medicines Agency (EMA) and other
health authorities regarding boosting with
the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
Johnson & Johnson continues to diligently
generate and evaluate data from ongoing
trials as well as emerging real-world evidence.
The Phase 1/2a clinical trials
(VAC31518COV1001and
VAC31518COV2001) have been funded
in part with federal funds from the U.S.
