RENEWING
STORMWATER PIPES
Work will begin on renewing
the stormwater pipes along
the western side of St Martins
School next week. The existing
pipes have reached the end of
their economic life and need
replacing. The work is expected
to take three weeks and will
begin on Tuesday, running from
Monday to Friday, 7am-6pm.
Vehicles driving through
park ‘a safety concern’
• By Emily Moorhouse
ANTI-VEHICLE bollards may
be installed at Radley Park,
Woolston, after complaints of
anti-social driving through the
area.
Linwood Ward councillor
Yani Johanson was approached
by a local resident concerned of
damage being caused to the park
by vehicles driving through it.
Johanson raised the issue at
a Waikura Linwood-Central-
Heathcote Community
Board meeting after the
resident put a customer
service request through to
the city council.
The resident was told city
council staff will monitor
the situation, with no
signage recommended,
so the ticket (report) was
closed.
UNAUTHORISED: The entrance to Radley Park (left) where
a resident wants bollards installed to stop vehicles entering.
Johanson said vehicles were
driving through the park
where the cycle connection
is. He said he has followed
this up with the city
council, as well as raising it
with the community board.
Johanson said he hopes
staff can find a suitable
solution to the problem,
such as temporary signage
to prevent vehicles entering the
area, until bollards can
be installed.
“It’s a safety concern as well,
there’s a dog area there and a
playground and cycleways,” he
said.
City council community
parks manager Al Hardy said
community parks staff have
received the action item from
the community board and will
provide advice at a future meeting.
FARM’S NEW TRUSTEES
The Addington Farm has
appointed four new board
of trustees: Rosemarie
North, Annie Huang, Tracey
Gallagher and Sean Pawson. The
farm will formally welcome the
new trustees on site on Saturday,
as well as celebrating five years
of operating as a community
organisation. If you would
like to go along, message The
Addington Farm on Facebook.
GRANT FOR SPORTS
UNIFORMS
The Waihoro Spreydon-
Cashmere Community Board
has approved a grant of $1500 to
the Smash Volleyball Club to go
towards uniforms. The money
comes from the discretionary
response fund. The club was
established in 1975, and this year
has seen an increase in players,
especially from the Pasifika
community and a large cohort
from Te Whanau Tahi, resulting
in a men’s team for the first time
in several years.
Jayne and I would like to thank you for the work you’ve done to get us where
we are today. Bit of a blur really. Every step in the process has gone into
achieving the result today that exceeded our expectations. The detail and
professionalism has been on point. Staging, photography, the video along
with the marketing campaign all leading to a great property to present to
the market. These aspects all set the scene perfectly for the open homes and
visits leading to today’s outstanding auction result. Quiet night tonight but
sure there will be a few celebratory drinks later in the week.
