The need for energy
to power our homes,
companies, and
communities grows as
the global population grows.
Maintaining a sustainable level
of energy and protecting our
world from climate change
need the development and
spread of renewable energy
sources.
In essence, the term renewable
energy refers to something that
doesn’t run out of or something
that is endless. Sources or
processes that are continually
replenished serve as the basis
for renewable energy.
Every renewable energy
source has its own benefits
and drawbacks, based on
variables such as geographic
location, user needs, and even
the season.
• Solar. Given that the sun
provides the globe with
enough energy in only
one hour to cover the
planet’s annual energy
requirements, the potential
for solar to satisfy our power
demands is enormous.
A large portion of our
electrical needs is met by
solar energy.
• Wind. Wind turbines
harness wind power by
using large rotor blades
positioned high in the air
on land and at sea. In order
to turn the wind’s kinetic
energy into electricity, a
rotor is attached to a turbine
generator, which spins
in response to the wind’s
movement.

• Hydro. In that it is utilized to turn the turbine blades of a
generator to produce energy, hydroelectric power operates
similarly to wind power. A common kind of energy in various
nations, hydropower spins turbine blades using swiftly flowing
water from rivers or waterfalls.
• Biomass. Biomass energy is produced by processing organic
matter, such as plants, trees, and scrap wood. When this
biomass is burned, it produces heat, which powers a steam
turbine and generates electricity.
• Geothermal. Geothermal energy is derived from the heat
trapped in the Earth’s core, which is produced by the
decomposition of radioactive particles trapped in rocks at the
planet’s center. By digging wells, hot water can be brought
to the surface and used to power turbines and produce
electricity.
