DIY: Fairy Gardens
Isn't it the duty
of grandparents
to introduce their
grandchildren to
magic?
The magic of fresh bread
raising, the magic of chocolate
dipped shortbread, the magic
of skipping a stone on water,
the magic of planting and
harvesting food; and the magic
of building a home for fairies to
live in. As a grandma, I take this
responsibility seriously :)
One of the
lovely things
about Fairy
Gardens is there is
no wrong way to
do it. And creating
them captures the
imagination of all
ages!
For myself, I love to browse
what others have done. I find
it so inspirational - people's
creativity amazes me. If you are
a member of Pinterest - search
Fairy Houses. You could spend
hours browsing what people
have done... or hit a book store.
There are numerous
commercially produced
bits and pieces that can
certainly add to the charm
you have
created, but
they are not
necessary. Fairy
gardens can be
very inexpensive
to create, and
are a great
way to work
together with your little people
- or big people too.
Gather some glue, a glue gun,
some outdoor Modge Podge,
some acrylic crafting paints,
some colourful sharpies, sharp
clippers, twine of various
thicknesses, popcicle sticks,
twigs, old boards, buttons,
broken costume jewellery – a
Fairies love the
Slocan Valley.
