Our collaboration was excellent. 2020, really highlighted our need for more serving space and an outdoor bar. We had a limited area in the front of our property to maximize. We also had an existing structure to remodel and incorporate. Van’s was excellent at taking our needs and wants and figuring out the best way to do it. We also needed the structure to match and complement our existing building, and Van’s had excellent suggestions and finishing touches that made it feel like it had always been there. What are some of the difficulties that you have come across with designing these projects in Door County? Our biggest challenge is always using space wisely but with an eye on what we will need in the future. We do not have a lot of space to build on, so maximizing use and clever design is always important. What is the purpose of thise space? Our Wine & Cocktail Garden is the newest addition to Door Peninsula Winery's property. Since 1974, Door Peninsula has been making wines and boasts a catalog of over 60 wines and hard ciders. In the same property, Door County Distillery has been distilling spirits for over 10 years. The Wine and Cocktail garden marries both of these entities. We serve glasses of wine, craft cocktails, wine flights, and cocktail flights (bloody mary and old fashions). It is also our only pet friendly space, which is a goal we had.
