3. Robustness of Inner City – Of late, the urban mix of
Kuala Lumpur has changed to incorporate more housing
intertwined with the traditional business district; and
4. Sustainability – Advocating for more sustainable, low carbon

According to Datin TPr Hjh Noraida Saludin, Malaysian
Institute of Planners (MIP) President: “Over the past 12 years,
WCSC Partner Organizations are proud to have continued with
efforts to educate and change public mindsets and perceptions
on the benefits and challenges faced in becoming a World Class
Sustainable and Liveable City. The achievement of such positive
initiatives and progressive results implemented in Malaysia learnt
from past WCSC conference series include the transformation of
Cheongyecheon River restoration in Seoul, Korea that was a great
prelude to Kuala Lumpur’s River of Life project; Brazil’s Curitiba
experience for its exemplary city transportation solutions; Hong
Kong and Singapore’s pedestrianisation projects that include
covered walkway systems to make cities for the people; the
metamorphosis of Kaohsiung, Taiwan from an industrial polluter
to an ecological tourist hub demonstrating that liveable cities are
creative and competitive; to name a few.”
“This year’s one-day symposium will feature an exciting lineup
of distinguished World-Class international and local speakers
including panelists from Australia, China and Malaysia. They
are globally renowned for their innovative ideas and solutions
towards present and future urban planning issues and challenges
in achieving the global goal of sustainable development, low
carbon, resilient and liveable cities,” added Datin TPr Hjh Noraida
Saludin.
Invited international and local speakers include Datuk Seri TPr

Photography Competition’ with attractive cash prizes, ‘WCSC

The WCSC 2022 Organizing Committee is most grateful for
the official support and endorsement of the Honourable Mayor
of Kuala Lumpur and DBKL accorded to the WCSC series over the
past 12 years. This has enabled the three Partner Organizations
namely, the Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association
Malaysia Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (REHDA KL), MIP and
PAM, together with DBKL to further strengthen their strategic
partnership, whilst continuing with collaborative efforts to
innovate and promote the future urban resiliency, sustainability
and liveability of Kuala Lumpur and other cities in Malaysia.
Corporate sponsors are invited to come forward to show their
valuable support and join in this year’s conference. The WCSC
Organizing Committee also welcome people from the public and
private sectors as well as city stakeholders to join and share,
learn, engage, create greater awareness and better understand
best practices towards achieving a Resilient, Sustainable &
Liveable City.
