Life in the Green Zone Are You Ready to Experience Greater Well-being? As the parent of a now-28-year-old on the autism spectrum, I am well aware, especially in recent years, of the obstacles placed in his path; including from vocational rehab services, who focus on providing ways we can achieve a place of emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being, which we now call the “Green Zone.” I realized that without a positive mental and emotional outlook, it was difficult, if not impossible, to move forward to create the life we desired. employment/training services only to individuals who do not need lifetime support and supervision in the workplace due to their disability. They are not equipped for folks with mental health issues and/or the neurologic/sensory issues related to autism and similar conditions. In 2010, I started a Non-Profit called Neuroshifts to help young adults in the autism and neuro-diverse communities achieve the desired employment outcomes. I found that teaching these young adults job-ready skills was essential.
