Lady's Bedstraw

Galium verum

Lady’s Bedstraw, found in the Bedstraw or Rubiaceae

family was used as a stuffing for mattresses in the

middle ages to make them sweet-smelling. The

leaves are dark green, narrow, pointed and arranged

in whorls of 8 to 12. Formed in dense clusters, the

small flowers are bright yellow.

Common in good quality meadows.
