ORIENTAL BAND

The Band has not been overly active the past few months. We did, however, participate in the annual

Hospital Crusade with members of Lehigh Shrine Club at the Redner’s store on Lehigh Street in Allentown.

We had an enjoyable time meeting new people and raised some money for the transportation fund also.

After we finished on Saturday, the group went to Ted Werkheiser’s home for lunch and refreshments.

Thank you and Lisa for your generous hospitality!

We are now preparing to go to the MASA convention in Virginia Beach. On Friday, September 9,

our own Dennis Guignet will be taking the reigns as President of the Mid Atlantic Shrine Oriental Band

Association. Also, Illustrious Sir Jared Kichline will be installed as 2nd Vice President of the Association.

We wish these two Nobles the best for the ensuing year in the respective offices.

On a very somber note, the Band would like to offer their condolences to Noble Paul Lizun and Noble

Bill Trusty on the loss of their Ladies Nancy and Janet. Noble Paul is treasurer of Lehigh Shrine Club.

Noble Bill is Past President of Motor Corps. Bill and Janet were instrumental with the formation of the

annual Night at the Races. Both will be sorely missed.

That seems to be all for now. I’ll have a report on MASA in our next issue. Until then, enjoy your summer, be safe, and most of

all, remember the kids in our hospitals.

I am writing this article today with a sad and heavy heart. Nancy Lizun, the wife of Noble Paul Lizun,

passed away from cancer on July 2. They had celebrated 55 years of marriage this past June 17. Please

keep Paul, Nancy, and their family in your prayers.

The Lehigh Shrine Club had its Annual Ladies Nite Bingo at the Complex on May 20. About 30

Nobles, Ladies and guests were present. We all enjoyed a buffet style meal of fruit cup, salad, baked

chicken, roast beef, ziti, and baked apple or cherry crisp for dessert.

We played a lot of Bingo and made sure everyone won a prize. There was a lot of fun and laughter

throughout the evening. We thank Noble Bryan Stoudt for calling the Bingo numbers. Also, many thanks

to our Noble President (for life) Dennis B. Guignet Sr. and his Lady Karen for all their hard work toward

Roger C. Reis making this a very successful (and fun) evening.

Our June meeting was on the 1st and held at the Paddock Restaurant in Allentown. We had 25 Nobles

and Ladies in attendance, including the Potentate and his Lady Joyce. The dinner was a salad and Chicken Cordon Bleu with

potatoes and vegetables. An ice cream dessert topped off a delicious meal.

The program was a talk by Ill. Sir Joseph J. Hagan Sr. about upcoming events with the Rajah Shrine.

Save the date of Wednesday, October 12, for the 2nd Annual Ron Neimeyer Memorial Golf Outing at the Twin Lakes Golf

Course. It is the old Iron Lakes which changed hands in January. The new owner has put several million dollars into improvements

for the golf course, buildings and landscaping. The Hillbillies had an outing there in May and had very positive remarks about the

facility.

Hope to see you all at MASA! Nobles, remember to support and attend your Clubs and Units. Without active membership, we

WILL cease to exist! As always, it’s GREAT to be a Shriner!

LEHIGH SHRINE CLUB

RAJAH LADIES

The Rajah Ladies, like all units and clubs, have wobbled and bobbled as we strove to get our meetings

restarted. We moved our luncheon day from Monday to Tuesday, but had to settle ultimately for Wednesday

because our host restaurant decided not to open each week until dinner on Tuesdays.

We have resumed our meetings with our latest two being: an inspiring speaker and program on

iamablefoundation.org and a pin/brooch sharing day to which we brought our favorites. I M Able foundation

provides grants, inclusive equipment and programming, and other resources for adaptive athletes.

If you are the widow of a Shriner and have missed the opportunity to enjoy this group, please contact

Judy Yorty, treasurer, at (717) 274-2129 to arrange for your luncheon. Chef Alan's American Bistro is

located at 525 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Rajah Ladies meet monthly from March until January

each normal year, on the first Wednesday of the month at noon.
