The6-foot, 175-pound five-star ended the Aggies’spring camp as the offensive MVP.Stewart caught seven passes for 75 yardsin A&M’s spring game.The nation’s No. 2 recruit, freshman defensivetackle Walter Nolan, should also playa prominent role on first-year defensivecoordinator DJ Durkin’s side of the ball.For the second straight season, Fisher hasa quarterback competition heading into fallcamp between returning starter HaynesKing and LSU transfer Max Johnson. Kingearned the starting nod out of last season’sfall camp, but was lost for the season witha broken leg suffered in the Aggies’ secondgame of the season against Colorado.Backup Zach Calzada, who led the Aggiesfor the majority of last season, has sincetransferred to Auburn.Johnson completed 225 of 373 passes for2,815 yards and 27 passing touchdowns forthe Tigers. He also threw six interceptions.Speedster Devon Achane returns to headlinethe Aggie backfield, who finished firstin the country in yards per carry at 7. Thetwo-sport track sprinter also led the Aggiesin rushing touchdowns with nine.The strength of A&M’s returning squad isits defensive secondary, featuring safetiesDemani Richardson and Antonio Johnsonas well as cornerbacks Myles Jones andJaylen Jones.
