1. What publications are run under the
auspices of the Editor in Chief?
Answer:
The Editor-in-Chief (EiC) has general
supervision and final authority on soliciting,
accepting, and rejecting all material on
technical subjects for publication in the
Bulletin or in special publications. As a
result, the publications under the auspices
of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum
Explorationists (NAPE) Editor-in-Chief
include but not limited to the following: -
Ÿ NAPE Bulletin – two editions each year
(First Edition in April and Second Edition
in November).
Ÿ NAPE Petroleum Business Bulletin -
one Edition yearly.
Ÿ NAPE Annual International Conference
and Exhibition (AICE) Book of Abstracts
and Conference Proceedings – during
NAPE AICE in November.
Ÿ NAPE Field Trip Handbook/Guide –one
edition yearly.
2. In your role as EIC, you must review a
plethora of articles, papers, and
abstracts. How would you assess the
quality of these presentations and what
kind of Papers would you like to consider
for NAPE Publications?
Answer: -
NAPE memberships cut across Industries
and the Academia. Therefore, NAPE values
knowledge sharing of technical works and
finding from the Energy industry (upstream
oil and gas sector) as well as academic
research from institutions of higher learning
globally.
Given the wide range of professional
backgrounds and experiences that NAPE
members possess, industry-based
professionals frequently submit and present
very high-quality technical works in the
fields of geoscience (geology and
geophysics - G&G), data acquisition,
processing, and interpretation, integration,
and application, as well as research from the
academic world (Professors, Readers, PhD
holders, post-graduate students, and final
year student projects).
To guarantee that only papers of the highest
caliber are accepted for technical
presentation and subsequent NAPE
publications, the Editorial Board/Technical
Programme Committee Chaired by the
NAPE Editor-in-Chief is charged with the
duties of calling for abstracts and papers,
peer review, evaluation and selection,
plagiarism check, and backend QA/QC of
these technical works. Based thereon, the

kinds of papers I'd like to consider for
NAPE Publications before going through
the scrutiny must include or demonstrate the
following key elements: a brief, concise and
well-structured abstract with keywords,
introductions, materials and methods,
results, discussions, and applications,
S u m m a r y a n d c o n c l u s i o n s ,
recommendations, acknowledgements, and
references. In the same vein, abstracts and
papers are assessed during the peer-review
process based on the logical flow of the
technical content, the uniqueness/novelty of
the study, and relevance to the industry.
3. Innovation and research are often
essential to achieving organizational and
economic growth. Can you highlight
some of the innovative products,
processes, or services you have
introduced as EIC?
Answer: -
In the course of my tenure as EiC, I
s u s t a i n e d d e l i v e r y o n t h e u s u a l
c o n s t i t u t i o n a l a n d c o n v e n t i o n a l
responsibilities of the EB-TP Committee
which includes the following:
Ÿ Timely Call for Abstracts and peerreview
of submitted abstracts / papers
for technical sessions at NAPE AICE
(conference).
Ÿ Issuance of Acceptance letters to
technical paper presenters as well as
Letters of Invitation to judges and
NAPE TECHNICAL PROGRAM
