SOUTHERN VEIN FIELD EXPLORATION
Limited exploration work has been completed within
the Southern Vein Field, with the exception of two
seismic survey traverses and several deep diamond drill
holes, and as a result its regional structural architecture
is poorly understood.
A ground geophysical survey (MT survey) was trialled over
the Southern Vein Field during FY2022. The aim of the survey
was to identify the regional fault architecture below
the Back Creek cover sequences and was completed
on 400m and 800m spaced east-west lines, with station
spacing 100m along each line. The survey covered
an approximate 5 kilometres north-south x 4 kilometres
east-west corridor immediately south from the current
underground workings.
The MT survey successfully identified key lineaments within
the Camboon Volcanics to depths exceeding 1,000m
below the surface. Preliminary geological interpretation
based on the MT dataset enable the identification of key
regional lineaments and its data outputs led to refinement
of the key target areas, of which 6 have ben identified
based off the MT dataset.
Later in the year, a second MT survey was undertaken
to provide a more detailed dataset to refine the structural
architecture and constrain the priority target areas further.
The survey comprised approximately 55 line kilometres
of coverage on 200m-spaced north-south oriented lines in
an attempt to further define the west-north-west to
north-west striking structures and better predict where they
are intersected by later structures.
At the end of the year, approximately 60% of the infill
MT survey was complete.
