THE SUPERVILLANS
The Space Coast Music Festival reboot (the original
multi day festival ran 2010-2015) is in its third year.
Orlando based rock reggae group The Supervillians will
headline this year’s event, happening Saturday, November
5th in the Eau Gallie Arts District.
The band was founded in 1997 by drummer/lead
singer Dom Maresco and guitarist/vocalist Scott ‘Skart’
Suldo’ when they were in their late teens. Now 7 full
length albums, 3 EPs and thousands of miles driven playing
the continental US and Bahamas, the band will play
alongside 97 bands on 7 stages for SCMF.
The band also features Brevard native BJ Hall
(Abandon The Midwest) on bass. Maresco comments on
the longevity of the band: “Really, just being stupid and
never quitting”, he laughs. “We love music, I love to be
on stage and perform. We’re grateful that the fans keep
coming, and after a while their kids start coming. It’s
multi-generational.”
Brevard County and surrounding areas have hosted
The Supervillians on many occasions including a 2-day
beach bash years ago held in Satellite Beach. Their most
recent local appearance was last month in Cape Canerval.
This time will be different as the SCMF is a free, family
friendly event. “We’ve played rock festivals and jazz
festivals,” he continues. “Being the genre that we are, we
kind of fit in all over the place.”
This year’s festival looks to continue the success of
both 2019 and 2021’s editions. Back is the kid’s stage
featuring up and coming musicians and the groups they
have formed. The BMX exhibition is also back, giving
attendees visual entertainment in addition to all the local
music. New this year is Best Fest; the traditional night
before pre party, featuring the 15th anniversary of the local
band Best Supporting Actor, along with Rainy Angel,
Lily of the Valley, Damion Suomi, Dollmaker and headliners
PagingMrHerman. Both events are free and open
to the public.
