opportunity. Global Gates exists to make disciples and start churches among, and through, unreached
people groups in Global Gateway Cities around the world.
Global Gates is recruiting an Executive Director who has an authentic, vibrant Christian faith and a
passion for reaching unreached or least-reached people groups who have migrated to points of greater
accessibility and who can connect us to people in their lands of origin.
Our new Executive Director will, in partnership with the Board of Directors, help provide strategic vision
and inspiration for the road ahead.
S/he must be able to think strategically and act decisively. We pray our leader will possess and exhibit
the spirit of a servant leader while empowering a high-capacity senior team. This individual must be
skilled at building enduring external partnerships.
While Global Gates is blessed with a loyal family of committed financial supporters, we believe there
is a significant opportunity for the new Executive Director to help engage new audiences and partners
who share our vision.

OVERVIEW
Relationships flow back and forth through global gateway cities to unreached peoples on the other
side of the globe, making the world a smaller place. Modern immigrants symbolize a new era in
pioneer missions — one in which today’s migration, transnationalism, globalization, and urbanization
pose unprecedented opportunities to take the gospel to the ends of the earth through the gateways
provided within global gateway cities.
Global gateway cities are cities with sizable populations of least-reached, ‘ends of the earth’ people
groups who are both accessible to Christian witness and through whom their home populations overseas
could be impacted with the gospel.

The expansion of Global Gates engagement of these unreached people will occur as we grow our
base of workers and partners to reach urban concentrations of least reached people groups and their
relational connections. Our aim is to reach them both locally and through their connections to other
urban or home populations overseas.

MISSION
The mission of Global Gates is to see gospel transformation of the world’s most unevangelized people
groups who have come to global gateway cities, and through them reach their communities around the
world. Therefore, we raise the missions climate in gateway cities by...
Advocating for unreached people groups, facilitating prayer initiatives focused on unreached people
groups, initiating and promoting missions to unreached people groups through seminars, speaking in
churches, promoting mission courses such as Perspectives, and by partnering with Christians and
churches to engage and serve among unreached people groups.
Mobilizing ministries through raising up and recruiting missionaries for evangelistic and church-planting
initiatives among least-reached people groups in strategic gateway cities, providing coaching,
mentoring, and training for mission practitioners, creating a peer-learning community with other
missionaries to promote best practices in urban contexts.
Ministering in Jesus’ name by responding to the felt needs of unreached people groups whom God has
brought to our gateway cities, and helping Christians minister to the felt needs of unreached people
groups whom God has brought to our gateway cities.
Planting reproducing churches by modeling obedience to Christ as the primary mark of a disciple,
developing and mentoring spiritual leaders for new churches, planting biblical, contextual, and
transformational churches.
Launching church planting movements around the world by working through gateway-city relationships
to evangelize, disciple, and plant churches, advancing best-practices in church-planting movements
through gateway-city relationships locally and globally.

HISTORY
God brought Global Gates into being in 2012 through the collaboration of Brad and Sara Wall and Chris
and Nichole Clayman. Although we weren’t keen on starting a new organization, we knew an entity like
Global Gates needed to exist to make disciples and start churches among, and through, the unreached
people groups of Metro New York. Our vision and mission quickly expanded to include other global
gateway cities and attracted involvement from global mission leaders such as David Garrison.
Today, we inspire, catalyze, and facilitate mission work among unreached people groups in many global
gateway cities in various countries. We also work in some of the least-reached places of the world as
we follow relational lines from unreached people groups in cities to their homelands.

DISTINCTIVES
Urban
The world is going urban while mission endeavors have largely remained rural. Missionaries often live in
cities, but focus their efforts in rural areas which they perceive to be more open to the gospel. However,
over half of the world is already living in cities and this number will surpass 66 percent by 2050 (United
Nations World Urbanization Prospects Report, 2014). Global Gates is focusing on what the world is
becoming—an urban world!
Diaspora
The world’s people are on the move. Globally, over 272 million people currently live away from their
home country (United Nations, 2019), but the numbers are even larger when you add the children of
immigrants, those who lived abroad and then returned home, and those who have internally migrated
within their own countries. Global Gates is focusing on a new era of missions aimed at reaching a world
already connected through global diaspora relationships.
Unreached People
Approximately 40 percent of the world’s peoples remain unreached by the gospel (Joshua Project,
2021). Nowhere is there a greater concentration of unreached peoples than in cities. Global Gates
is focusing on the unreached in these cities who have been neglected or written off as too difficult to
reach. We seek to start churches among peoples who do not have one. And when they do have a
church, we want to help them multiply a movement of disciples and churches that will transform their
community with the gospel.

THE POSITION
The Executive Director is responsible for reinforcing, developing, promoting, and realizing the vision
of Global Gates. This involves developing and leading the organizational structure and culture to fulfill
Global Gates’ mission, as well as developing financial partnerships that ensure the long-range success
and growth of Global Gates.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Manifests evidence of a personal faith in Jesus Christ, knowledge of the Scriptures, and a passion for those
in need of salvation through Christ.
• Passion for and experience in ministering to unreached people groups.
• Significant and proven leadership skills as evidenced by experience in senior management within a growing
organization.
• Strong communication skills, through writing and speaking.
• Background in strategic planning.
• Ability to raise the visibility of an organization.
• Sensitivity within multicultural working environments.
• Experience working with and building an effective Board of Directors.
• Ability to work with ever-changing technology applications for internal processes and internal/external
communications.

THE POSITION (CONT.)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS
1. Organizational Development
• Lead the organization, above all, to have spiritual vitality as it responds to the leading of the Holy Spirit in
fulfilling its mission.
• Set the strategic direction, policies, procedures, and goals of the organization in collaboration with
organization leaders and board of directors, communicating this to Global Gates’ workers.
• Develop infrastructure capacity to support anticipated growth .
• Recruit, manage, inspire, and motivate a strong staff and missionary team.
• Collaborate and lead in affecting positive communication within and among all Global Gates missionaries,
staff, board members, and partners.
• Frequently connect with missionaries at all levels in the organization to hear their stories, concerns, and
passions and to encourage, inspire, motivate, and connect them with resources.
• Ensure structures are in place to assist missionaries in emotional and spiritual health.
• Build trust, collaboration, and effectiveness with the administrative leadership team and between the
organization’s different departments.
2. Board of Directors
• Promote the Board’s engagement in critical thinking, strategic planning, resource/financial development,
membership development, missionary care and organizational wellness.
• Guide the expansion and development of the Board of Directors to maintain a strong and diverse Board of
Directors.
• Serve as the primary representative to the Board of Directors, and the Executive, Finance, and Nominating
Committees.
3. Fundraising
• Increase, strengthen, and diversify the organization’s funding sources.
• Lead in developing and sustaining a diverse funding base, to include churches, organizations, foundations,
and individuals.
• Ensure a workplace that is conducive to helping fundraisers in the organization succeed.
4. Financial Management
• Foster stewardship-driven accountability for resources and monitor budgets to ensure the greatest
stewardship of Global Gates resources.
• Prepare and present an annual report to the Board of Directors and other key stakeholders.
• Provide regular updates to Board of Directors with information needed for effective oversight.
5. Community Public Relations
• Champion the mission and vision of Global Gates to those outside the ministry through speaking and writing.
• Be the primary spokesperson for Global Gates, advocating for unreached peoples residing in the United
States by means of conferences, churches, coalition meetings, etc.
• Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize these relationships to strategically
advance Global Gates’ mission.
• Expand the use of social media and other means to increase visibility and influence within the Christian
community, especially as pertains to the mission of Global Gates.
6. Community Public Relations
• Report semi-annually to the Global Gates Board of Directors.
• Submit an annual report to the Global Gates Board of Directors.
• Annual personnel review by the Global Gates Board of Directors.

LOCATION
The organization’s preference is for someone who lives in the
city or suburbs of a Global Gateway City* in the United States.
DEFINING GLOBAL GATEWAY CITIES
Global Gates began using the designation with New
York City, and few could argue that – however we define
it – New York City fits the bill. But that can also be a
problem, since few cities have all the bells and whistles
of a New York City.
What are the key elements that constitute a “global
gateway city”?
Despite the temptation to begin with the three
constituent words: 1) global, 2) gateway, and 3) city – it’s
better that we take one step further back, to put this
three-word term into its broader context, a context we
can obtain by looking at Global Gates’ vision statement.
Global Gates’ vision is: “Reaching the ends of the earth,
through global gateway cities”.
‘Global gateway cities’ derive their definition and value
from their relationship to ‘reaching the ends of the earth’.
So ‘global gateway cities’ are a means to reaching the
ends of the earth, and not an end in themselves. This
means we must add ‘the ends of the earth’ as a fourth
component to unpack and clarify our definition of ‘global
gateway cities’.
