<strong>An</strong> Appendix Concerning the Ordinance of Singing<br />

Q. 7: Whence then ariseth the wickedness of man’s<br />

nature?<br />

A. From the fall and disobedience of our first<br />

parents, Adam and Eve: 1 hence is our nature so<br />

corrupt, that we are all conceived and born in<br />

sin. 2<br />

1 Rom. 5:12. Therefore, just as through one man sin<br />

entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death<br />

spread to all men, because all sinned. 18-19. Therefore,<br />

as through one man's offense judgment came to all men,<br />

resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's<br />

righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in<br />

justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience<br />

many were made sinners, so also by one Man's<br />

obedience many will be made righteous.<br />

2 Ps. 51:5. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,<br />

<strong>An</strong>d in sin my mother conceived me. Gen. 5:3. <strong>An</strong>d<br />

Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a<br />

son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him<br />

Seth.<br />

Q. 8: Are we so corrupt that we are not at all apt to do<br />

well, and are prone to all evil?<br />

A. Indeed we are, except we are regenerated by<br />

the Holy Ghost. 1<br />
