The past
There has been a ferry operating here for
more than 500 years since it was established
by charter. The latest ferry is the 7th to operate
a vehicle service since 1888. The ferry bridge
crosses King Harry’s Reach which is part of
the Pilgrims’ Way to St Michael’s Mount and is
named after King Henry VI, the Lancastrian King.
The passage was called ‘Kybyllys’ which means
ferryboat in Cornish.
