Egypt’s liquefied natural gas exports register 4.86M tons in Jan-
Sept 2022: IDSC
Egypt’s exports of liquefied natural gas registered 4.86
million tons in the first nine months of 2022, compared
to 4.35 million tons during the same period in the
previous year, the Cabinet’s Information and Decision
Support Center (IDSC) announced. In an infographic,
the IDSC highlighted that Egypt’s liquefied natural gas
exports rose 35.7% year-on-year in the second quarter
of 2022, recording 1.9 million tons.
Turkey topped the list of countries importing Egypt’s
liquefied natural gas as it bought 22% of the total
exports, followed by Spain (13%) and South Korea
(10%).
Egypt’s production of gas doubles in 8 years
A report submitted by Minister
of Petroleum and Mineral
Resources Tarek el-Molla to the
House of Representatives’ Energy
and Environment Committee
indicated that Egypt’s production
of natural gas doubled between
2014 and 2022. The report
highlighted that Egypt’s imports
of gas between April 2015 and
September 2018 recorded EGP127
billion. However, the country was
able to achieve self-sufficiency later
in 2018 when production rose
to 6.8 billion cubic feet per day.
Further, the exports of natural gas
and liquefied natural gas (LNA)
recorded $7.8 billion in the first 10
months of 2022.
