Art school a broad palette for all
During COVID, local artist Lisa Williams
saw an opportunity to further her
passion for creativity while also providing
others with the chance to broaden their
own artistic expression.
And so The Beaches Art School at Mona
Vale was born.
Lisa explained that although it was a
difficult and challenging period for the
community, it also was a time when many
people were realising their love for art, or
rediscovering it after many years.
“During this time, the importance of
community was heightened,” Lisa said.
“I formed The Beaches Art School with
the aim of creating a strong sense of
community with a ‘everybody’s welcome’
attitude.”
An experienced artist, Lisa teaches the
classes at the Art Studio space in Mona
Vale.
After growing up on the Northern
Beaches, Lisa moved to America to study
painting and received her Fine Arts Degree
in 2011.
“I have been painting almost daily ever
since and I’m passionate about sharing
my knowledge.”
Lisa said The Beaches Art School strives

to create a welcoming and supportive
space for people of all ages and experience
levels.
“There is always something new to
learn and discover in art and during the
classes students can explore their artistic
potential and have fun in the process.”
Weekly art classes are available for
adults, teens and kids; they are suitable
for absolute beginners to advanced.
Classes run year-round and new students
can start any time.
“Our classes provide the opportunity
to explore different mediums, subjects
and new techniques throughout the year,”
Lisa said.
“Students are guided through the artistic
process and encouraged while they
develop their new art skills.”
With the support of the five amazing
students who started with Lisa in 2020,
The Beaches Art School has grown to be
able to provide quality and fun art classes
six days a week, where new faces are
welcomed regularly.
“I feel so lucky that I am able to teach
each day the skills needed to paint, and
I’m so grateful for all the students who
allow me to be part of their week.”
