Get your skin glowing for
2023 with skin care goals
We are already in the
second month of
2023, children are
back at school, and you finally
have a few minutes to think
about yourself for the year
ahead. In February, we have
‘Feb Fast’ where we can reset
dietary and health programs
– but have you thought about
your skincare goals? What do
you want to achieve, how will
you achieve them and who can
assist in reaching these goals
easily and realistically?
When you set your skin care
goals, these can do so much
more than reverse or prevent
aging. Our largest organ of
the body requires assistance
with its health internally and
externally. Our skin will help
to maintain a healthier body
by reducing and keeping out
harmful pathogens, ensuring
vital hydration remains intact
and reducing sensitivities and
irritations.
Then as we move into
another phase of pandemic
recovery, more considerations
may change your skin goals
for 2023 and how it is best
to approach them. As many
people have experienced flu,
COVID, long COVID or all of
these, their skin condition
has changed and this may
require a change in treatments
and skincare formulations to
best strengthen and support
the rejuvenation of the skin.
There might be evidence of
inflammation, skin stress,
and a compromised immune
response.
Even if you are already
visiting an aesthetician
monthly, it is the perfect time
to review and possibly update
your skin care treatments and
home care regime. The Clinic
might need updates regarding
your goals, medications, skin
care products, shampoo,
conditioner and special events.
If there are special events,
don’t leave it to the last minute
and expect a miracle. Mature
The Local Voice Since 1991
skin takes a little longer to be
revitalised.
It is also a good time to
review your products, as here
on the Beaches we have a hot
humid summer and a cool
dry winter, both extremes
requiring a switch-up of home
care. Along with the seasonal
changes comes a change
in our skin concerns and
requirements.
Some other significant skin
care concerns to review and
definitely to adhere to for 2023
are:
1. Apply your SPF daily no
matter the season, as it is one
of the best preventions for
premature aging;
2. Cleanse, gauze/ tone and
nourish your skin morning and
night with the recommended
skincare that will assist with
cleansing, hydrating and
repairing;
3. Wash your makeup off every
night. Even after a long day, it
can seem like the worst chore.
Sleeping with your makeup can
lead to clogged pores and dull
skin;
4. Check expiration dates
on skincare, makeup and
sunscreen. Old expired
products usually lose their
effectiveness and may harbour
bacteria, increasing the risk of
infection and irritation; and
5. Schedule your skin cancer
screening with your doctor and
don’t become a statistic this
year. While trying to schedule
one more appointment into
your busy schedule may
seem inconvenient, surgery
for melanoma will be more
inconvenient.
Introducing a treatment
series is a great way to
stimulate your results for your
skin. Many options, including
a 90-Day Program (this might
be a combination of peels,
microdermabrasion, laser
and corrective facials), a Peel
Series (a trio of peels spaced
anywhere between 2-4 weeks
apart), Corrective Facials or
a one-off treatment such as
a Tixel Infusion or Jet Peel
treatment.
Seeking advice from health
professionals such as a
naturopath, nutritionist or
colon therapist to work from
the inside while also working
on the outside will achieve
optimum results for your skin
completing the health jigsaw
puzzle.
No matter what your
skincare goals are for 2023,
speaking with a professional
aesthetician is the perfect
starting point to assist you in
reaching your new year’s skin
resolutions.
